CLINIC ADMINISTRATOR OF SPECIALTY CARE

JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinic Administrator of Specialty Care is responsible for implementing, monitoring and reinforcing goals and objectives for the development, establishment, and coordination of quality, comprehensive services within the multiple Ephraim McDowell Health Specialty Care Clinics.

 

Directs and supervises the activities of Practice Managers in accordance with standards of practice established by EMH, federal and state government entities, and healthcare regulatory agencies. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service and Trust).

 

This position supports 13 Specialty Practices and approximately 60 Providers. The Specialty Practices that this position supports are as follows: GI, ENT, Endocrinology, Pulmonology/Lung Center, HVI, Urology, Behavioral Health, General Surgery, Bariatrics, Eye and Vision Care, Interventional Radiology, Sleep, Radiology, Anesthesia. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS, AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or physical strain. Work environment may involve exposure to disagreeable elements requiring intervention and resolution. The responsibilities of this position do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue. Responsibilities of this position will involve work outside of normal business hours for different projects and events. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently.

 

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

Ability to foster cooperation and positive relationships. Requires regular contacts to discuss issues of moderate importance and to respond to inquiries. Occasionally requires contacts with Associates at higher levels on matters requiring cooperation, explanation and persuasion. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Requires regular external contacts to discuss issues of moderate importance and to respond to inquiries. Also requires ongoing personal contact with the public involving matters requiring cooperation, explanation and persuasion.

 

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Professional skills require the ability to apply knowledge to practical issues and allow for development of new methods and procedures. Requires knowledge of theories and practices of a recognized professional field (e.g., nursing, fiscal, quality assurance, information support, laboratory, radiology, etc.) and general knowledge about healthcare services in general. Frequently applies knowledge of practical issues and resolves problems. Independent judgment is required to select and apply the most appropriate procedures/methodology to achieve desired results. Supervision is present on an “as needed” basis to establish general objectives and to identify potential resources for assistance. Problems are not standard/routine, but are often similar to those seen before. Solutions can often be found by using methods chosen before in similar situations. Independent judgment is required to interpret problems and select appropriate solutions based upon similar situations that have occurred in the past. This position requires skills in examining, developing and implementing new strategies and procedures to achieve desired results. The incumbent must possess the ability to build an extensive network of acquaintances, both internal and external to the Organization. The incumbent must also demonstrate “self-starting” initiatives and plans for success. The incumbent of this position must also be skilled in identifying obstacles impeding success and developing strategies to overcome them. In addition, the incumbent of this position must follow through on tasks and accomplish goals. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel. Understanding of medical coding, and Meditech preferred.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Health Administration, Nursing or other related field. Experience of five (5) years’ experience in Clinic operations may substitute education.

 

Experience: Two to three (2-3) years’ experience in clinic operations required. Three to five (3-5) years’ clinic or supervisory experience preferred, other business related experience will be considered.
