The University of Miami Health System is currently seeking a full time Clinic Assistant to work at Sylvester Cancer Center (SCCC) in Miam. The incumbent performs a variety of clerical duties and receptionist duties associated with patient care unit operations.  The Clinic Assistant also facilitates patient flow.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort):

Greets patients upon arrival, and verifies patient information in UChart, checks patient wrist band and assists patients with the pre-screening form.

Maintains confidentiality of patients records

Responsible for maintenance of clinical waiting areas

Stocking reception areas and clinic rooms with magazines, brochures, and patient literature

Liaison between patient, nurses, and clinics

Advises patients of wait times intermittently and periodically as needed

Reports any findings to the clinic nurses

Transports patients to respective hospital units as needed

Facilitates patient flow

Assembles, completes, and processes patients’ charts as indicated

Keeps patient records accurately identified

Maintains an accurate clinical record, recording information per hospital policy

Checks charts for incomplete histories and operative summaries and brings it to the attention of the appropriate member of the health care team for correction.

Obtains records from HIM department as needed.

Orders unit supplies to maintain inventory of the unit’s equipment stock and supplies. Assists with receiving, distributing, and sorting supplies brought to the unit.

Responsible for obtaining lab and X-ray reports

Utilizes UChart to track patient arrival times. Advises front desk personnel of patient delays to maintain daily schedule.

Assumes responsibilities for stocking rooms with needed supplies and putting away storeroom supplies as appropriate.

Utilizes supplies and equipment effectively.

Ensures proper disposal of used equipment and supplies.

Assists in copying completed patient paperwork and delivering originals to front desk for scanning into UChart and delivering copies to appropriate areas.

Assists with keeping the clinic area neat, clean, and organized.

Assumes responsibility for patient filling out Patient Satisfaction Survey.

Receives telephone calls and visitors to the clinical areas

Reports unusual incidents in a timely manner to appropriate supervisory personnel.

Reports and documents any and all equipment issues to the Practice Manager

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·Knowledge of medical terminology

Good oral and written communication skills

Knowledge of age specific competencies.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

·Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and clinic staff.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):

High School diploma or equivalent

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

One year experience required
