Clinic Nurse – CVZCN

Main job function

Primary Health
• Provide quality medical care utilizing cost effective treatment regimes
• Diagnose acute & chronic medical & occupational health conditions within scope
• Screen all patients before referral to the ODR
• Dispense appropriate treatment
• Maintain patient & medication records as prescribed
• Maintain the confidentiality of all past & present patients
• Adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to promoting holistic patient care
• Provide an emergency intervention service & refer major injuries to the relevant medical facility
• Provide support & assistance with queries by the 1st Aiders

Occupational Health
• Conduct routine occupational health assessments on all employees
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained & calibrated at required intervals
• Administer the IOD system & process the required documentation
• Perform entry & exit medicals on all employees

Medicines & Consumables
• Order medicines & consumables as required
• Control the access to & dispensing of all medication & consumables
• Ensure that medicines are stored correctly & correctly disposed of when expired
• Conduct routine stock takes of all medicines & consumables
• Collect employee’s medication from the clinic and dispense to correct employees.

Education & Awareness
• Provide pre & post-test counselling for VCT
• Counsel all employees with respect to HIV & AIDS (PICT)
• Provide EAP support
• Provide support for HIV Counsellors & peer educators

Inspections
• Provide health care education on an individual basis according to the patients’ needs
• Facilitate health care training & develop relevant training programmes
• Conduct routine site health & hygiene inspections & audits
• Conduct routine Health Risk Assessments
• Conduct internal audits as required

General
• Maintains health & safety standards, infection control & ensure that medico-legal hazards are prevented
• Attend site Health & Safety Committee Meetings
• Compile & submits monthly clinic reports to HR
• Maintain sick leave statistics
• Manage the condom distribution
• To ensure that the relevant SHREQ procedures that pertain to area of responsibility are implemented, maintained, and continually improved
• To promote HIV & AIDS awareness, prevention, tolerance & respect within the organisation

Qualifications

• Grade12 Qualification (Matric) or equivalent
• Nursing qualification – Current Registration with SANC;
• Occupational Health training
• HIV & AIDS Counselling training
• Dispensing License will be advantageous.
• Must have at least 3 years’ experience in occupational health
• Excellent attention to detail skills /Strong administration skills

Remuneration: R26 000 per month
