Schedule Details: The primary location will be Pewaukee and Oconomowoc. 
Monday - Friday varied day shifts.  Weekend shifts will also be required every six weeks.

RN working as an oncology clinic nurse will work directly with hematology oncology physicians and APPs in a pleasant team environment delivering state of the art cancer care.  Opportunity to split time in oncology clinic and infusion center if desired or do oncology clinic only.  A predictable work schedule that allows time for work life balance.   

 

Outpatient medical oncology is a busy department with patients being seen in clinic by a physician/APP, either a Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner. In addition we provide infusion services which may include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, or other IV therapies. Our clinic staff is made up of Nationally Certified Oncology RN’s, Oncology Nurse Navigators, LPN’s and secretarial staff to take care of patient needs.

What You Will Do:

The Collaborative Care Nurse (CCN) is a vital member of the Medical Oncology team at the UW Health at ProHealth Care Cancer Center locations. Medical Oncology is a complex area. Clinical Nurses work with the providers in both the clinic and infusion and all 3 locations (PWK, OMH, and DNG). Supporting patients throughout their cancer journey is one of the things that make us stand out from our competition. This nurse is responsible for:

 

Provide ongoing care to oncology/hematology patients Assess education needs and provide teaching and counseling to patients and their families Anticipate and recognize changes in patient’s status and need for care Determines priorities of patient care based on patient needs  Provides ongoing assessment of patient’s response to treatment and interventions Communicates with provider team to confirm, correlate, and update patient’s plan of care Provides telephone consultation/triage and care coordination to patients and families Maintains and updates accurate clinical and patient records according to departmental policies and state, federal guidelines Takes ownership of one’s professional development in oncology Continually strives to advance knowledge including Oncology Nursing Certification

 

What You Will Need:

Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)  ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Provide Card/Certificate (preferred upon hire) OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) after 2 years of employment  Associate's Degree in Nursing required, BSN Preferred. Two (2) years of experience in a clinical setting that includes experiences in specialty.
