The Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center (EMC) in Leesburg, Virginia, part of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, invites applications from qualified individuals for a full-time, calendar year non-tenure track position as a Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor of Equine Surgery. Candidates must either be board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons or eligible to take the Phase II ACVS certification examination in February 2025. Salary and faculty rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The duties of this position have an emphasis toward clinical service responsibilities in all aspects of equine surgery. The successful candidate will participate in veterinary student experiential learning and intern and resident clinical training. Scholarly activity and participation in collaborative research corresponding to a non-tenure track faculty position will be expected. The successful candidate will have opportunities to contribute to clinical experiential, didactic, laboratory, and small group instruction of DVM students.
Applicants must be committed to excellent patient care, exceptional client service and strong referring veterinarian relationships. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and an enthusiasm for providing the highest standards of patient care. Participation in continuing education and outreach activities that promote the reputation of the EMC is expected.
A demonstrated ability to be innovative, flexible and adaptable in a busy hospital environment is highly desirable. Dedication to a team-oriented, professional and collegial hospital workplace that promotes the principles of equal opportunity and diversity and fosters a positive culture of collaboration and professionalism for all EMC employees is essential.
