Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The SES Department offers programs in Special Education, Birth through Kindergarten (BK), and Interpreting, Deaf Education, and Advocacy Services (IDEAS). It includes full-time faculty who have a history of success procuring external funding for both research and development of service providers, teachers, researchers, and leaders. The Special Education program area offers CAEP-accredited initial teacher licensure programs in the following areas: Special Education: General Curriculum Dual certification in Elementary Education and Special Education Post baccalaureate alternative licensure (PAIL) program in Special Education: General Curriculum M.Ed. in Special Education Ph.D. in Special Education

The Department also offers Bachelor’s degree programs in ASL Interpreter Preparation; Deaf Education and Deaf Advocacy. In addition, the BK program offers a Masters’s degree in Birth-Kindergarten and a post-baccalaureate initial licensure program-BKIL. Position Summary The person in this position offers needed instructional support to the Deaf Education concentration within the IDEAS program in the SES Department. Instructional support includes teaching four classes for each of the fall and spring semesters (face-to-face and online) and supervising students in clinical placements. The clinical assistant professor will also help maintain the integrity of the programs through offering a high degree of expertise in service delivery and instruction for deaf and hard of hearing students and will assume departmental administrative roles such as program coordinator, and service to the department, the School of Education, the university, and the field.
