The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position. The faculty member will hold a clinical appointment at The Brandt Behavioral Health Treatment Center and Retreat, located in New Brunswick, NJ.
The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy is recognized on all levels, local, state, national, and international, as providing one of the most challenging, dynamic, and satisfying Programs of Study leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree. In concert with supportive faculty and staff, students at the School build a foundation for learning that continues long after graduation.
The Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administration focuses on the clinical and regulatory aspects of pharmacy practice. The mission of the Department is to participate in the preparation of students to provide pharmaceutical care in its varied practice settings. Graduating students are equipped with the necessary skills to adapt to a changing healthcare environment. Students are also provided with scientific fundamentals, ethics, and attitudes necessary to adapt their careers to changes in healthcare over their lifetime. This mission supports the overall mission of the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy in four critical areas: teaching, practice, scholarship, and service.
The Brandt Behavioral Health Treatment Center and Retreat, a cornerstone of the Rutgers Youth Behavioral Health Initiative, is New Jersey’s first treatment facility exclusively for adolescents and young adults backed by an academic health leader like Rutgers. The facility will serve 1200 clients annually and offer a diverse range of holistic treatment options. In partnership with Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care and Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP), the youth behavioral health initiative is also dedicated to training the next generation of mental health providers in this integrated academic, research, and clinical setting.
The Behavioral Health clinical pharmacist faculty member will collaborate with pharmacists, masters level clinicians, and medical staff to optimize care of patients in our Outpatient (OP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).The faculty member will be responsible for organizing, developing and participating in clinical and quality improvement activities. Clinical activities include but are not limited to the following: practice under collaborative practice agreement to optimize outpatient pharmacotherapy, participate in quality initiatives and improvements to optimize therapies, enhance medication access, provide interprofessional education, develop policies and procedures, committee participation, perform research and medication use evaluations, perform dosing consults, follow site procedures for billing for services when appropriate, provide community outreach support, and provide clinical teaching to students at the site and on campus along with providing support for rotations with the school of pharmacy’s psychiatric PGY2 residency program which has plans to expand in the future.
