Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Unit Educator

Position Summary

 

The Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Unit Educator (CUE) functions as an educator and resource for the day-to-day activities of the unit, associates and ancillary associates.  The CC/CUE will oversee the clinical education needs of the department and ensure professional growth and development opportunities are evaluated and programs are designed. The CC/CUE is an experienced nurse who is seen as a leader on the unit. The CC/CUE will collaborate with leadership in developing and implementing the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System’s culture, mission, vision and values. Associates are encouraged to support Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System’s involvement in the community we serve.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Education          

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing BSN

 

Experience         

Minimum of three years of recent R.N. experience

 

License/Registration/Certifications         

Current R.N. licensure in the state of South Carolina or compact state BLS instructor, ACLS provider

Core Job Responsibilities

Basic computer skills Adheres to system wide standards of behavior Adheres to proper chain of command Meets continuing education requirements, demonstrates knowledge of and ensures compliance with all clinical expectations of regulatory agency requirements (DNV, DHEC, CMS) Successfully completes hospital and unit-based orientation programs Effectively communicates with patients, families, physicians and hospital associates Knowledgeable in use of and response to Facility Alert, Medical Alert, Medical Emergency Systems Demonstrates knowledge of professional nursing practice and theory Responsible for demonstrating competency for all new equipment and procedures Ensure nursing care is provided to patients in compliance with the SC Nurse Practice Act and organization protocols, policies, procedures and guidelines. Assesses educational needs of associates and works with the Manager/Director to provide in-services and appropriate learning opportunities that are consistent with hospital and corporate initiatives and evidenced based practice Collaborates with the education department to provide annual hospital competencies for all associates Facilitates annual department competencies for all associates Coordinates orientation and onboarding for all new associates Collaborates with the education department to provide orientation and clinical experience for nursing students Investigates and analyzes patient or associates processes and provides guidance and problem-solving opportunities to insure optimal patient care Mentors/develops associates Identifies the need to develop or revise policies and procedures Identifies opportunities to standardize processes and optimize systems that will lead to increased safety and develops/ participates in safety education programs and apparent cause analyses as required Conducts concurrent review and audits of patient care records to evaluate care and documentation compliance of associates Assists with development and implementation of the departmental PI Plan/efforts based on identified opportunities, patient safety and process concerns Assist the Manager/Director with quality and performance metrics Assists the Manager/Director with unit organization and clinical management of patient care that is consistent with unit/department and hospital standards and goals Participates in purposeful nurse/leader rounding for improved Assists the Manager with unit meetings, delegated committee participation, projects, record keeping, audits, and hospital initiatives Participates in interviewing, coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations Assists the Manager/Director with budget preparation and maintenance Formulates a plan for professional growth Serves on unit-based and hospital wide committees Remains committed to unit, department and division goals Functions as a bedside RN accepting patient assignments as needed Other duties as assigned
