Clinical Dietitian I
Job Summary St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is seeking an experienced pediatric Clinical Registered Dietitian (RD) to provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to infant, pediatric and adolescent patients who are followed by the Nephrology Service at our pediatric facility located in North Philadelphia. Job Summary: The pediatric Clinical Dietitian I will perform comprehensive nutrition assessments, diagnose nutrition-related problems, determine, and implement appropriate targeted therapeutic nutrition interventions, and monitor and evaluate outcomes utilizing the Nutrition Care Process. The pediatric Clinical Dietitian I may have medical nutrition order writing privileges and may participate in EMR order entry for oral nutrition supplements, modulars, oral diets, tube feedings (enteral nutrition) and intravenous feedings (parenteral nutrition) per the Clinical Registered Dietitian Medical Nutrition Therapy Order Management Protocol. The pediatric Clinical Dietitian I is responsible for nutrition counseling, education and ongoing follow-up for patients and parents and will participate in hospital committees as well as educational programs for hospital staff, community, parent groups and professional organizations. Participates in performance improvement and outcome research activities, CMS required multidisciplinary meetings. The pediatric Clinical Dietitian I will possess strong clinical nutrition knowledge in complex areas of pediatric renal disease including dialysis and renal transplant. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment. The pediatric Clinical Dietitian I will consult and collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the hospital and practice plan. The pediatric Clinical Dietitian I is perceived as the expert resource for all clinical nutrition concerns. Participates in education of clinical nutrition interns, medical students, residents, fellows, nurses, and other clinicians. The pediatric Clinical Dietitian I will join the staff of Clinical Dietitians in the Department of Clinical Nutrition and will have department responsibilities as assigned by the Director. The Clinical Dietitian I will report directly to the Director of Clinical Nutrition. Skills & Abilities: Ability to work with various members of multidisciplinary teams as well as with other employees throughout the organization. Strong knowledge and application of MNT principles as they relate to renal disease including dialysis, pre-transplant, and post-transplant. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to patients and families, medical staff, and physicians. Ability to function independently and demonstrate effective time management. Ability to counsel and educate others. Strong knowledge in the scientific rationale and application of oral nutrition supplements, infant and pediatric formulas, enteral nutrition support, intravenous nutrition support and feeding modules (carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamins, and minerals). General knowledge of Word Microsoft Office, Power Point, Excel, EMR. #STC Qualifications Training & Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Registered Dietitian (RD) credentialed from the Committee on Dietetic Registration (CDR), Licensure in the state of Pennsylvania (LDN). Experience: Minimum of one year paid related experience required as a clinical Registered Dietitian with pediatric renal clinical nutrition experience preferred. Supervisory Responsibility: None Required Licenses & Certifications: Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credentialed. Pennsylvania State Licensure (LDN) within 90 days of hire. Credentials, PDP and licensure must be maintained.
