Clinical Director, Psychological Services

**Purpose:**
Develop, manage, direct and supervise all functions related to Psychological Services across the Behavioral Health service line. Assure the quality and efficiency of the health care delivered to members as well as quality management and specified utilization management. Participate in care management decisions when appropriate and is a resource to participating providers in the provision of quality care. Performs responsibilities in collaboration with various members of the leadership team. Support the administrative and clinical leadership teams in the recruitment of clinical psychologists across the serviceline, develops relationships with schools, pipeline management, create student placement, create post doc internship/placement in our clinical settings and interface with our existing faculty stakeholders.
**Responsibilities:**
* Collaborates, communicates and effectively engages members of the service line, service line leadership and members, senior administrative leadership, BH Service Line, Research, UPMC staff and leadership, consumers and families and external stakeholders.
* Support the administrative and clinical leadership teams in the recruitment of clinical psychologists across the service, develops relationships with schools, pipeline management, create student placement, create post doc internship/placement in our clinical settings and interface with our existing faculty stakeholders.
* Partner with Talent Acquisition and HR departments on identifying pathways for recruitment and management toolsthat promote retention.
* Partner with the Director of Practice Management or designee for the development, implementation, and evaluation ofgoals tied to practice management with the aim of financial sustainability and growth of services.
* Provide direct clinical services using a wide variety of treatment modalities including individual therapy, family therapy,group therapy, and couples therapy.
* Responsible for strategic planning, operational planning, development, implementation and evaluation of treatment and services for each program within the service line. This includes goal development, execution and evaluation.
* Perform related documentation and paperwork duties, including comprehensive initial evaluation, initial and updated treatment plans, progress notes, contacts with family members, primary care physicians, and other health care providers and discharge summaries/closing notes.
* Responsible for clinical operations of all psychology programs within the service line providing direction to the management and staff regarding standards of clinical and administrative performance.
* Coordinate the development and implementation of new program initiatives, including evaluating local-regional-national opportunities for program expansion or rightsizing, proposal development, funding opportunities, attend various professional organizations, committees and groups and establishes external stakeholder partnerships.
* Monitor departmental performance against appropriate internal and external standards.
* Travel to satellite offices as needed to oversee and assure that services are operating at a consistent level throughout
the organization.
* Participate in regional and company management meetings and workgroups as indicated.
* Assure that patients (in specified levels of care) receive appropriate evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, screening.
* Review proposed service denials for specified levels of care and the utilization of appropriate medical necessity criteria
and ensure appropriate care management integration and coordination. Assist with assessment of utilization of age appropriate
services and development of interventions to improve management interventions.
* Clinically review requests for service within the scope of practice. Work to assure appropriate delivery of care.
* Plan and constantly refine program service delivery, analyzing workflow to ensure sound business practices, attention
to fiscal aspects, balanced with high quality consumer services.
* Attend interagency meetings when appropriate and necessary for members who are at risk or high risk.
* Interface with medical directors on a regular basis.
* Assure the quality of treatment and related services provided by professional staff, through participation (directly or by
designee) in the ongoing quality management and audit processes.
* Work with the Director of Practice Management or designee in designing and evaluating protocols and studies for
quality management.
* Assure that all clinical staff/psychological services receive appropriate clinical supervision, staff development, and inservice
training related to services within the scope of practice. Supervise staff, psychologists, including Manager of
Psychological Services, and conduct performance reviews as required by organization policies.
* Prompt response to review processes and procedures for specific levels of care within the scope of practice. Develops
and maintains performance standards for specific levels of care within the scope of practice.
* Development and maintenance of effective relationships with providers. Participate in provider training and educations.
*Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
*Performs other duties as assigned.
+ PhD in Psychology or PsyD
+ 5-7 years of clinical experience required.
+ 3-5 years' experience in progressive leadership required.
+ Experience in Behavioral Health treatment and program development.
+ Ability to maintain effective professional liaison with all levels of executive /medical/clinical staff, including professional and institutional providers of care.
+ Ability to implement programs of quality care analysis, peer review, and professional education. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** Licensed Psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania.
