**Clinical Documentation Integrity Educator** _The HIMS Education & Quality department is looking for a CDI Educator to join their team!_ **Work location:** Remote with some occasional travel onsite **Work hours** : Full Time, 40 hours weekly, Monday – Friday day schedule **HIMS Coding Department Highlights:** + **Flexible hours/scheduling once training is complete** + **Work life balance** + **Opportunities for advancement** **Here’s What you Need** · Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, Business, or other related field **required** · Master's Degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, Business, or other related field preferred · 2 years experience in Clinical Documentation Integrity **required** and · 3 years experience in acute patient care setting **required** and · 2 years electronic medical record and chart review experience **required** and · 2 years experience providing formal education in adult learning preferred · Texas RN/Registered Nurse valid license upon hire **required** or · CCS – Certified Coding Specialist (valid current credentials with AHIMA) upon hire **required** or · RHIA – Registered Health Information Administrator (valid current credentials with AHIMA) upon hire **required** or · RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician (valid current credentials with AHIMA) upon hire **required** and · CCDS - valid current credentials with ACDIS within 6 months of hire **required** or · CDIP - valid current credentials with AHIMA within 6 months of hire **required** **Skills** Advanced clinical expertise and extensive knowledge of complex disease process, with clinical experience in an inpatient setting. Broad knowledge of the disease process, normal/abnormal findings, and reasonable course of treatment, quality measures, and risk management issues is necessary. Thorough knowledge of Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) methodologies. Demonstrated competency in teaching/learning process, organizational skills and computer literacy required. Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor is required. **What You Will Do** Plan, develop and implement clinical documentation education program for CDI team. Contribute to the education plan for physicians and other providers. Educate members of the CDI team on clinical indicators to improve the integrity of physician documentation to support complete and accurate reimbursement. Develop & Design Collaborates with CDI leadership to articulate clinical education programs for new and established CDI specialists and providers. Educates members of the CDI team on topics within the scope of the CDI program to meet and maintain department goals and objectives, as well as regulatory compliance. Learning Needs Assessment & Program Evaluation Utilizes industry standards / metrics to assess the competency of CDI staff post orientation, onboarding, and ongoing. Creates surveys to measure the ongoing relevance of department specific education materials, documentation tip sheets, and training programs. Education Delivery Assists leadership in developing employee education for department and organizational improvement. Subject Matter Expert Demonstrates ability to understand and explain complications and comorbidities (CC), severity of illness (SOI) and risk of mortality (ROM), case mix, chronic and secondary conditions, impact of procedures, DRG calculation and is able to impart this knowledge to CDI staff and providers, as well as other members of the healthcare team.
