Position Summary:
Coordinates clinical education services according to American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) standards. Oversees supervision, instruction and evaluation of students in clinical and laboratory setting. Assumes responsibility with Program Director (Department Manager) for student outcomes. Supervises, instructs and evaluates students in clinical, laboratory and classroom settings.
Education, License & Cert:
Baccalaureate degree required; will consider Associate degree with baccalaureate degree completion within 24 months of hire. Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification and Registration required.
Experience:
Documents 2 years clinical experience in the professional discipline. Documents one years’ experience as an instructor in JRCERT accredited Radiography program. Proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation and academic advising.
Essential Functions:
1. Develops and implements program goals, lesson plans, clinical objectives, clinical evaluations and clinical schedules.
2. Maintains student clinical performance and attendance records and assures that students meet the JRCERT clinical standards and ARRT clinical competency requirements.
3. Instructs, evaluates, advises and counsels students regarding clinical and didactic performance.
4. Performs competency‐based procedure evaluations for students in the clinical setting.
5. Audits the delivery of clinical education using personal observation, interview, and survey instruments to ensure that clinical instruction is integrated and coordinated with didactic and laboratory instruction and delivered adequately and consistently to all students.
6. Provides orientation/training to the clinical instructor and staff Radiographers regarding instructional objectives, and clinical assessment tools.
7. Maintains communication with all staff radiographers concerning student progress and remediation needs.
8. Assists clinical instructors and staff technologists in maintaining and providing skills relating to student supervision and evaluation.
9. Provides appropriate direct and indirect supervision of students in the clinical area and continuously monitors patient’s needs within clinical site.
10. Participates in student recruitment activities including but not limited to visit days, information days and open houses at both Mansfield University and Robert Packer Hospital Sayre.
Other Duties:
1. Participates in Admissions Committee, Outcomes Assessment Committee and Advisory Committee.
2. Participates in continuing education to improve skills and maintain professional competence.
