You can be instrumental in this training by becoming a Director of Clinical Education over Women's and Pediatric Services **.** This position provides leadership in planning, developing, executing, and evaluating system-wide clinical education programs and training for Women’s and Infants (WIS) and Pediatrics. The leader oversees the development and delivery of an effective orientation program for new clinical team members in one of the largest Practice Transition Accredited programs internationally This position is 40-hours per week and is a hybrid position requiring regular rounding on facilities and occasional out-of-state travel.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides leadership in the planning, development, execution and evaluation of system-wide clinical education programs and training. Provides oversight in the development and delivery of an effective orientation program for new members of the clinical team. This position utilizes research and evidence to create and implement strategies that strengthen the clinical professional workforce, clinical practices and applications and resulting clinical product to advance professionalism and patient care.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides leadership for all clinical education efforts within designated area(s) and participates in clinical, research and program development and implementation, as well as financial activities.
2. Directs personnel actions including recruiting, new hire actions, interviewing and selection of new staff, salary determinations, training, and performance evaluations. Develops goals and objectives for designated area(s) that align with the department and system strategic initiatives.
3. Participates in, leads and facilitates task forces and committees to plan, implement and coordinate clinical education programs, activities and/or clinical application deployments and upgrades for the organization.
4. Ensures that practice/education offerings meet system, regional, facility and regulatory standards for design, content, teaching, evaluation and documentation. Maintains current knowledge of orientation, training and organizational development techniques and applies this knowledge to facilitate education program effectiveness.
5. Collaborates with leaders across the organization to ensure standardization of education and related materials for designated area(s). Supports an environment and infrastructure that promotes professional growth by serving as a resource for policy and procedures, standards of care and external agency requirements.
6. Develops and implements strategic workforce learning and development services to support achievement of workforce goals, quality initiatives, discipline-specific professional goals and clinical practice. Role models innovative clinical practice, patient safety and evidence-based practice in the design and delivery of workforce learning and development outcomes. Demonstrates the use of research and best practices knowledge for participation in evaluating the effectiveness of education/training programs.
7. Develops and oversees the department budget in conjunction with corporate goals and objectives. This position is accountable for meeting annual budgetary goals.
8. May include oversight, development, delivery and/or assessment of clinical curriculum, developmental programs and related services, which may include system process for Continuing Medical Education (CMEs) for informatics education opportunities, coordination of simulation training programs, and Continuing Nursing Education (CNEs) for clinical education. If/when functioning as the Primary Nurse Planner: Has the authority within the organization to ensure compliance with American Nurses Credential Center (ANCC) accreditation program criteria that pertain to the operations of the provider unit. Has the responsibility for ensuring the provider unit adheres to the ANCC accreditation program criteria for all operational aspects of providing continuing nursing. If/when functioning as the Primary Nurse Planner: Has the authority within the organization to ensure compliance with American Nurses Credential Center (ANCC) accreditation program criteria that pertain to the operations of the provider unit. Has the responsibility for ensuring the provider unit adheres to the ANCC accreditation program criteria for all operational aspects of providing continuing nursing education activities and criteria that pertain to the operation of the organization as a provider unit. Has the responsibility for the orientation of all nurse planners with respect to ANCC Accreditation criteria. Also, is responsible for ensuring all nurse planners hold a current, unencumbered nursing license and a baccalaureate degree or higher in nursing. License status is checked annually by the primary nurse planner or designee. Also responsible for ensuring all nurse planners follow ANCC Accreditation criteria. If/when functioning as a Nurse Planner: Responsible for all aspects of the development, implementation, evaluation, record keeping, and quality of continuing education activities reviewed. Ensures all education providing continuing nursing education hours adheres to the ANCC accreditation program criteria and is consistent with the operational standards of a Provider Unit. Coordinates, communicates, and incorporates feedback from trainees to ensure training needs are met to drive outcomes both short and long term. Establishes an effective classroom environment. Tracks and follows up on the results of evaluations. Provides feedback to leadership and suggests opportunities to enhance training/learning or knowledge based programs and expected behavior change.
9. Responsible for the integration and standardization of clinical education across the system, within designated area(s). Provides leadership to support educational needs and the effective design and delivery of educational programs and developmental opportunities. Internal customers include but are not limited to leaders, medical staff and employees across the organization. External customers include but are not limited to practicing physicians and regulatory agencies. If/when planning Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) events, follows all the requirements of ANCC.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a strong knowledge of healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration or related field. If/when functioning as a primary nurse planner a Graduate degree and BSN required with a current, unencumbered nursing license. If/when functioning as a nurse planner a BSN or higher in nursing is required and a current, unencumbered nursing license.
Requires a current RN license in state of practice.
Must possess a strong knowledge within designated area(s) as normally demonstrated through a minimum of five years related experience. Must possess demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles and change management. Requires demonstrated experience leading and/or managing strategic clinical operations. Must possess excellent organization, communication and critical thinking skills, with the ability to problem-solve and prioritize needs rapidly.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certification in specialty area is preferred, if available.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
