**Job Description:** The CE Technician II is a position within Intermountain Health’s Healthcare Technology Management department. The CE Technician II is responsible for maintaining assigned clinical equipment and systems through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan. Performs a variety of tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of a broad scope of clinical equipment and systems with minimal supervision. The CE Technician II may serve in a variety of job-specific roles and clinical environments, including but not limited to: Hospitals & Clinics, Surgical Centers, Home Healthcare, Dialysis Centers, Central Processing Departments, Clinical Laboratory, Information Technology or the Repair Depot Service Center. **Essential duties:** **Equipment Expertise** + Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of clinical equipment relevant to the assigned role within the caregiver clinical environment + Performs preventive maintenance (PM) procedures on assigned clinical equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications or an established Intermountain HTM alternative maintenance (AEM) program + May develop AEM PM protocols + Demonstrates proficiency in troubleshooting and repair techniques when performing corrective maintenance + Encouraged to share troubleshooting and repair tips and techniques with the HTM team + Maintains adequate inventory of commonly used parts and supplies **Safety** **To protect patients and caregivers, Intermountain Health emphasizes maintaining safe work environments and work practices. The CE Technician II:** + Demonstrates knowledge and proper practice regarding personal protective equipment (PPE) + Demonstrates safe and proper use of tools required to perform job duties + Maintains a safe work area + Demonstrates familiarity with Intermountain Health’s Zero-Harm Error-Prevention techniques + Accountable to maintain clinical equipment protected health information (PHI) confidentiality + Demonstrates proficiency in addressing Risk Management and Quality Assurance issues through SafetyNet **Documentation** + Demonstrates timely and accurate documentation of service performed on clinical equipment using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) + Demonstrates competency in accessing clinical equipment service history using the CMMS + Demonstrates proficiency in accessing and referencing Intermountain Healthcare’s clinical equipment user and service manual library + Encouraged to share knowledge of the CMMS with peers **Policy and Procedure** + Has a working understanding of local and national public safety and regulatory requirements + Demonstrates proficiency in locating and referencing policies and procedures relevant to work scope through Intermountain Healthcare’s Policy Library portal **Effective Communication and Rounding** + Accountable for clear and effective written and oral communication with department leadership as well as caregivers encountered while performing job duties + Accountable to report issues and concerns to department leadership + Able to solve front-line customer service issues + Accountable for regular rounding with assigned departments to promote a HTM presence and to meet with front-line caregivers for the purpose of identifying service opportunities + Able to provide ongoing education to clinical caregivers on proper use of medical devices. **Individual Development** **The Clinical Engineer II is encouraged to continually develop professional skills through:** + Formal academic education + Online education resources + Formal manufacturer-provided clinical equipment service training + Provide and attend department level cross-training + Ability to precept and orient incoming Clinical Engineering technicians + Manage projects which may consist of coordinating, planning system installations and recalls. **Other** + Clinical Engineer II duties may include after hours, weekend on-call assignments and travel + Other duties as assigned **Minimum Qualifications** + Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with Medical Equipment or maintaining / repairing equipment. + Demonstrated proficiency to troubleshoot and resolve issues. + Demonstrated ability to follow protocols and processes relating to equipment maintenance. + Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of preventative maintenance processes and schedules. **Preferred Qualifications** + Associate of Applied Science Degree. Degree must be obtained through an accredited Institution. With at least 2 years of experience. Education will be verified. + Certificate acquired through the completion of a relative health technology course. With at least 2 years of experience. + Five years of experience relative to the caregiver clinical environment role. **Skills** + Medical Equipment + Biomedical Equipment + Preventive Maintenance + Emergency Repairs + Imaging Equipment + Documentation + Electronics Servicing + Medical Staff Training + Clinical Engineering + General Medical Practice **Physical Requirements:** **Physical Requirements** + Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs. + Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. + Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use. + Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. + For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles **Location:** St James Hospital **Work City:** Butte **Work State:** Montana **Scheduled Weekly Hours:** 40 The hourly range for this position is listed below.
