Summary

Clinical Informatics Pharmacist

Position Highlights:

Using knowledge of pharmacy practice and informatics concepts, the Clinical Informatics Pharmacist is responsible for effective workflow design, translation of requests into system specifications, prioritizing initiatives, troubleshooting, issue resolution, and ongoing management and support of pharmacy systems to promote a safe, optimal, and cost-effective medication use process with a parallel emphasis on clinical decision support. The Clinical Informatics Pharmacist will work collaboratively with administration, information technology, revenue integrity, and clinical care teams by participating in the planning, development, training, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of the electronic health record (EHR) and clinical information systems across the organization.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with clinical informatics across the system to ensure alignment with organizational practices and processes and provide feedback for improvements. Function on teams as a content expert for the implementation of new processes and technology systems. Assures that appropriate resources are available to projects and problem-solving and optimization of Clinical Informatics initiatives. Insures application of regulatory and professional standards, recommendations, and guidelines to current and new clinical information systems Round and attend routine meetings with pharmacy leaders and team members. Monitor tasks and reported issues and facilitate communication between internal and external customers. Anticipates customer needs; assesses requirements and identifies new solutions. Partner with Clinical Systems to follow issues through to satisfactory completion, ensuring that customer and patient needs are met in a timely fashion. Provide guidance to team members to successfully design and implement electronic solution or change in clinical workflow to add value in patient care areas. Collaborate with Clinical Systems to make sure SOPs capture necessary information. Assist in ensuring that systems support compliance with TJC, CMS, and recognized pharmacy practice standards. Assess EHR vendor enhancement options and present to clinical leadership for consideration and prioritization. Assist in leading affected departments through the implementation of enhancements. Create and manage infusion smart pump drug libraries and push libraries out to individual pumps. Provide appropriate and complete design specifications for pharmacy charging build and maintenance. Participate as needed to help train team members and help develop training materials as they relate to the electronic health record and other clinical systems and automation.

Credentials and Experience:

MD/DO – Doctor of Pharmacy required Five (5) years of institutional pharmacy practice experience or equivalent with demonstrable effort to participate in or engage with informatics initiatives, or completion of a PGY-2 in informatics Understanding of pharmacist requirements and ability to identify technology and process based solutions

Licensure/Certification:

Licensed Pharmacist (RPh/PS) Must have or obtain Florida Pharmacist License within 1 year of hire
