Responsibilities

The Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) serves as a clinical informatics resource, supporting all clinical staff roles throughout the care continuum (as assigned) in the specialty of Clinical Informatics. The CIS plans, coordinates and monitors the analysis, design, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of clinical informatics applications and projects working in collaboration with corporate IT.


Qualifications

Required:

ONE of the following:  Bachelor's degree in Nursing, other clinical discipline, Information technology/informatics, Business Management, Communications, etc. AND a minimum of one year of experience in a position that has the same or similar primary duties as this position Associate's degree or certification in clinical discipline ( e.g. Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Medical Assistant, Surgery Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Education, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related healthcare or Information Systems field AND A minimum of two years experience in a position that had the same or similar primary duties as this position.A minimum of five years of blended work experience and formal instruction in a position that had the same or similar primary duties as this position.Active license of certification to practice as a clinician is required if applicable.Informatics certifications or credentialing Education or experience in the area of adult learning and/or informatics. Experience with supporting clinician use of an EMR system, with expertise in hospital or ambulatory clinical computer applications (as appropriate for role), especially those used at Providence Health and Services. One to two years experience in creating, designing, and writing training materials. Project management and/or project team leadership Change management and process improvement leadership.
