The Clinical Informatics Specialist will independently champion and provide guidance for the on-going development, advancement and optimization of clinical systems and technology that impact patient care and business operations throughout the system.
DescriptionThe Clinical Informatics Specialist is knowledgeable about the clinical processes, relevant regulatory mandates, and principles of quality/safety improvement in their clinical area of focus. At this level, the Specialist is not only an expert in core technologies within their area of focus but also knowledgeable about workflows and applications that support core focus area.
Lead clinical informatics projects to ensure they are planned and implemented using evidence-based practices for planning, understanding, guiding and delivering responsible and efficient patient careServes as an Informatics leader that bridges the gap between people, processes, clinical knowledge and technologyDocument specifications that will translate into development of tools, reports, and systems that support organizational business needsUtilize the SBAR process to plan recommendations for informatics solutionsEnsures workflows/process is current with regulatory agencies and best practice standardsIdentifies changes to system to comply with policies and procedures in the most efficient mannerUtilize data to drive process, workflow and behavior change as it relates to appropriate and efficient use of electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinical technologyServes as a resource to end users for information systems and technology; effectively communicate system changes, workflow process changes, downtime procedures, etc.Participates in the production and distribution of communications related to technology through active internal networking, clinical liaison role, newsletters, announcements and other technology-based mechanisms to health professionalsRoutinely conduct intentional rounding in patient care areas to gain overall knowledge of facility specific workflow, patient throughput, and challenges with technology solutionsMonitors outcome and evaluates user adoption of current and newly implemented information technology and functionality
