Clinical Informatics Systems Analyst (Internal Applicants Only)

Compensation (Pay): $29.46 to $42.72 hourly/based on experience.

Job Summary: Provides system and application analysis in support of current and future applications, specifically the Electronic Health Record (EHR), Practice Management System (PMS) and associated applications. Includes evaluation, analysis, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications. Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both end-user needs and a thorough understanding of clinical systems, applications and industry requirements. 

Conducts analysis and provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements. Ensures that documentation is updated when change requests are approved. Acts as third-level support for Clinical Informatics department and as a mentor to Clinical Informatics Support Analysts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides systems and applications analysis in support of the current and future clinical and associated applications and solutions.  Applies professional skills to administer job responsibilities in the technical environment and serves as a mentor to others. Demonstrates thought leadership to introduce improvements to the solutions currently installed and ideas for additional technology. Leads change control and other committee meetings when assigned. Accurately develops and documents the design and requirements for complex systems, applications, and interfaces working closely with users, vendors and staff, ensuring impacts are addressed/reviewed with all appropriate parties. Ensures accurate documentation is assimilated that will assist others in learning processes and/or in determining problem resolutions. Provides education to staff, users, and others as appropriate. Analyzes and resolves production problems in a timely manner.  Reviews system error logs and messages to monitor system performance; monitors quality of reports and documents generated.  Takes appropriate corrective action to assure customer expectations and goals are achieved. Leads the planning and coordination of software installations, upgrades, and fixes.  Assures all interfaces and applications are thoroughly tested and approved by appropriate parties before changes are applied to production system. Ensures system/applications are kept current for vendor maintenance support. Leads the technical evaluation of new application software, related hardware products, solutions, and processes consistent with the departmental and organizational goals, as well as user needs and expectations. Serves as the key liaison/leader in complex or major projects, conferring with other unit staff and users to outline project goals, secure information, investigate, resolve problems and coordinate work efforts to assure compliance with user needs, organizational policies and procedures, and system interrelationships. Demonstrates ongoing leadership, teamwork, and communication skills by coordinating projects and/or ongoing assignments. Develops and coordinates test plans in collaboration with users and vendors and monitors results and maintains all related documentation. Stays abreast of current trends and developments in software applications. Demonstrates strong working knowledge of clinical practices and system software. Works directly with the Clinical Informatics team to serve as an advocate for Health Informatics, support, and training across multiple departments; serves as the interface between clinical, operations and application support. Participates in monitoring application utilization with ability to analyze requirements, gaps, issues, risks, and workflow enhancements. Provides onsite support during pilot and/or production rollout and when performing version upgrades or other environmental changes. Maintains employee and customer confidence and protects operations by keeping protected information confidential. Exhibits positive leadership skills, actively striving to improve the patient and staff experience at Peak Vista Community Health Centers, as well as strong communication skills. Education/Experience:

Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, information technology or other technical field/business related required or 6 years applicable  experience in lieu of degree.

Experience: Five or more years of experience in areas such as training, electronic health records, application analysis and support, clinical documentation, computerized order entry, results reporting, and other clinical technology required.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer knowledge, experience with use of computer applications, internet, database software, and keyboard skills.
