Position Summary/Description:
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term position at the Clinical Instructor level to serve as the Clinical Supervisor of Recovery Programs at The UNC Farm at Penny Lane, part of the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health. The UNC Farm at Penny Lane is located on a 40-acre campus in northern Chatham County, and offers holistic, recovery-oriented, therapeutic programming that is complementary to traditional clinical services. The UNC Farm at Penny Lane aims to provide a place of belonging for individuals living with serious and persistent mental illness, reducing stigma, embodying hope, and supporting participants to become healthier and more self-sufficient in a non-traditional environment. Situated on a working farm, current program offerings include therapeutic horticulture activities, animal assisted programs, expressive arts activities, and cooking and wellness classes.
Clinical responsibilities of this position include assessment and provision of therapeutic services to program participants, including psychoeducation and group facilitation using empirically supported modalities including CBT , DBT , and social skills training. This position engages in regular clinical case reviews, providing detailed case presentations and contributing to multidisciplinary treatment planning as well as actively participating in treatment team meetings, offering clinical insights and collaborating on the development of holistic care strategies. This position is also responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations at the UNC Farm at Penny Lane including therapy program planning and coordination, and collaboration with community stakeholders.
The Farm at Penny Lane serves as a training site for students from various programs including social work, counseling, occupational therapy, nursing, and others. This position assumes a primary role for the coordination of student learning experiences, including clinical supervision of interns, and volunteer coordination at The Farm at Penny Lane. This position reports to the Director of Community Services at the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health.
