Job SummaryMichigan Medicine Department of Neurology is seeking a Clinical Instructor for an advance learner position. Your work plan will focus on the clinical and academic experiences necessary to gain proficiency in the subspecialty of movement disorders neurology. This will consist of a minimum of 2 half-days per week, averaged over the course of four years of training, within the various movement disorders clinics including but not limited to general movement disorders, NPH, ataxia, Wilson's disease, atypical parkinsonian disorders, DBS and botulinum toxin. Unless determined otherwise, each of these experiences will be staffed by an attending neurologist in order to provide appropriate supervision. Additional clinical experiences (such as Speech-Language Pathology, Neuropsychology, Geriatrics, Geriatric Psychiatry, Neurogenetics, Pediatric Movement Disorders and Palliative Care) will be offered and may be included in your 2 half-days, or optionally added by the trainee. Your clinical advanced trainee activities will be directed by Dr. Chauncey Spears, with clinical and research mentorship provided by various (and likely numerous) divisional faculty members. Faculty who provide clinical services are required to obtain and maintain medical privileges at Michigan Medicine in conjunction with faculty appointments. As a clinical faculty member, you must be board certified and maintain active licenses and certifications for your specialties. Faculty completing training programs who are not yet certified must sit for the next available specialty board exams upon confirmation of eligibility.
Required Qualifications*The selected candidates are required to be eligible or hold Michigan State medical licenses and should have MD or equivalent degree.

Background ScreeningMichigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
