The Clinical Lab Assistant II, Histology/Cytology is responsible for preparing laboratory specimens for testing and analysis including accessioning of surgical and cytology specimens, preparation and distribution of pathological samples or slides for diagnostic procedures, maintenance of pathology laboratory equipment. Primarily supports the histology and/or cytology technologist’s duties and processes.

Technical Duties

•             Prepare specimens for testing and analysis

•             Scan/and or data entry of specimen and patient information

•             Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform instrument maintenance

•             Troubleshoot any specimen related issues

•             Replenish test bench supplies as needed

•             Maintain a clean work environment

•             Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested

•             Loading and unloading tissue processors and embedding of pathology tissues

•             Loading and unloading stainers in Histology and IHC

•             Preparing cytology specimens for analysis and staining (CytoPrep)
