Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and implementing any functions,
projects, or procedures associated with the LIS. Implements quality standards and provides oversight of section processes
to achieve excellent outcome and quality patient care. As scheduled, performs Laboratory testing on patient and control
samples, and/or prepares blood components for transfusion. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard
operating procedures. This knowledge includes the use of specialized analytical instrumentation, clinical correlation of test
results, quality control requirements, and preventative maintenance. Maintains department readiness for regulatory
inspections and compliance requirements. Maintains department policy and procedure manuals in accordance with
hospital policy. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process through professional development, continuing
education, data collection and evaluation, and quality assurance. Develops and maintains orientation, training and
competency tools and ensures compliance.
Participates in data collection and analysis as requested by management. Maximizes efficiency in section operations. Exhibits willingness to resolve problems as they arise.

Qualifications Education/Training/ExperienceEarned a doctoral or bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution or Post-baccalaureate degree certificate.
Two years experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in an acute care laboratory preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Current State of California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
American College of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) registration preferred
