Clinical Lab Scientist - Microbiology

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Lab Scientist to join our dynamic team in the Microbiology department. We are committed to providing high-quality patient care and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of microbiological procedures, including:

o Bacterial culture and identification

o Antimicrobial susceptibility testing

o Mycology and parasitology testing

o Molecular diagnostics

o Blood cultures

o Quality control and instrument maintenance

• Analyze and interpret laboratory results, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.

• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all procedures and results.

• Collaborate with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

• Participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement initiatives.

• Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols.

• Assist with training and mentoring of new staff members.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree required.

• 1 year Previous experience required.

• Continuing education lectures and courses to keep knowledge current as required.

• Must have experience reading different culture types and setting up cultures traditional and molecular based.

• Required training in

o Hematology

o Chemistry

o Blood Bank

o Microbiology

o Immunology and Serology as applicable.

• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License or Limited California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License

• California Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License

• California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License are required and ASCP registry preferred.

• LA Fire card is required. (Must obtain within 90 days of hire date. Classes offer at hospital)
