Position Summary:
Under direct supervision by department leadership, the Associate Lab Technician performs diagnostic clinical and clinical contract research testing.Prepares samples through sample management and tests samples on 4 different analyzers for customer results.Supports preparation of laboratory reagents and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Understands and performs to all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.Performs diagnostic testing, as scheduled (500-1,500 samples per analyzer in a given night) on one of 4 analyzers.Supports the sample management team with sample identification/evaluation, labeling, processing, and centrifuging samples when there are high volumes of samples or a decrease in tests needed.Performs reagent preparation, as scheduled, and supports maintenance of reagents.Operates, troubleshoots, and performs routine maintenance and calibration on equipment and may participate in validations.May release final results in accordance with training and compliance requirements.Pipettes (single channel, multi-channel, electronic, etc.). Centrifuges, freezers, refrigerators, pH, meter, microscopes. Automated instruments (hematology counter, DNA isolator, plate washer, Coagulation analyzer, etc.). Lab specific equipment, including, but not limited to: Flow Cytometry based equipment, Spectrophotometer, qPCR Instrumentation, Thermal Cycler, Gel Electrophoresis, Sequencer, AggregometerDress Code: Scrubs or business casual (must wear long pants in the lab) along with comfortable, clean, closed-toe shoes.
Essential SkillsB.S. in Life Science (biology, chemistry, biochemistry, etc.) or Medical Lab Tech (MLT) schooling with ASCP certification or Clinical Lab Science (CLS) schooling with 4+ years of hands-on testing experience.OR Masters degree with 2+ years of hands-on testing.Experience with laboratory sample testing (donor samples, patient samples, etc.).Additional Skills & QualificationsHuman biological testing experience (blood, tissue, urine, etc.).Blood banking experience.Biology lab internship.Experience with centrifuges, automated instrumentation, qPCR instrumentation, Gel Electrophoresis, and Sequencer.Hard SkillsPerforms diagnostic clinical testingSample evaluation, processing, and sample managementOperation and maintenance of laboratory equipmentReagent preparationEquipment troubleshooting and calibrationSoft SkillsAttention to detailTeam collaborationTime managementRegulatory complianceSelf motivated

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.75 - $26.50
