Clinical Laboratory, Animal Medicine Intern
Description

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Clinical Laboratory Animal Medicine Summer Intern to join our Animal Resources – Nonclinical Drug Safety department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. As an Intern, you will engage with the many aspects of an animal care and use program, including clinical and preventative medicine, study support and pathology, training, regulations, and administration, in both GLP and non-GLP environments.

Duties & Responsibilities Participate in the provision of clinical, surgical, & preventative medical care to various animal species, including non-human primatesParticipate in acclimation, positive reinforcement, and training techniques for various animal speciesEngage in training activities for animal handlersShadow GLP and non-GLP study support activitiesExpand knowledge in husbandry, biology, and diseases of relevant speciesComplete a mentored, hypothesis-driven research project for formal presentation at the conclusion of the internship periodRequirements Must be Professional Student, enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary college in good academic standing.Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferredMajor or minor in related field of internshipUndergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or universityGraduate and Advanced Degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

Completion of at least one year of didactic training at an AVMA-accredited veterinary collegePrevious experience working with animals in a research settingBasic understanding of the scientific methodAbility to work independentlyCompensation Data

This position offers an hourly rate of $20.00 - $33.00 USD / hr. commensurate to the level of degree program in which an applicant is actively enrolled. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
