Clinical Laboratory Assistant, Microbiology
Full-Time; Nights; 11pm-7:30am
Under direct supervision, appropriately addresses preparation and routing for laboratory testing in any one of various specialized laboratories throughout UMMS: Immunology, Rapid Response (Chemistry/Hematology), Blood Bank, Microbiology, Virology, Molecular Diagnostics, UMCC Laboratories and Shock Trauma Stat Lab, in accordance with departmental procedures and regulations stipulated by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

Receives and accessions patient samples into the Laboratory Information System. Ensures that all codes and information are entered accurately and timely. Maintains accurate patient identification and information for billing purposes following departmental procedures.Accessions, processes and arranges delivery of specimens according to departmental procedures.Acts as the Expeditor for specimen management. Coordinates specimen and order processing and ensures specimens are processed and delivered to the testing or problem solving areas in timely manner.Evaluates specimen integrity. QualificationsEducation and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.One year of customer service experience is preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
