Position Overview

The Clinical Laboratory Technical Specialist will provides services of technical nature in the Technical Laboratory. The Clinical Laboratory Technical Specialist is the front line in troubleshooting instruments, reagents, sample and Laboratory Information system (LIS) issues and  ensuring timely turnaround to ensure prompt test processing. This position will work directly with technical specialist leadership and technical laboratory leadership to anticipate and resolve issues related to efficiencies in throughput, staffing, and laboratory processes. This position is also responsible for maintaining LIS functionality, verifying result release, pending list management, and investigating issues. The Clinical Laboratory Technical Specialist will perform complex laboratory tests in the clinical laboratory to provide physicians with rapid and accurate laboratory test results.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

Perform moderate and high complexity analytic processes without direct supervision.  Use routine and specialized automated and non-automated laboratory procedures and techniques after training and competency assessments.Assist technical specialist leadership in planning, writing, and executing various laboratory procedures, verifications, and validations relating to laboratory tests, workflow, instrumentation, and sample handling and transportation.Coordinate with other departments to ensure consistent run validity and instrument performance as it relates to result handling and turnaround time.Serve as immediate source of troubleshooting support to the technical laboratory teams and assist technical laboratory leadership in determining sources, solutions, and corrective actions for errors and issues.Ensure quality and timeliness of patient test results by investigating problems involving specimen collection, result reporting, and turn-around time.  Interpret problems with specimens which meet the rejection criteria for unacceptable samples. Pull, analyze, and interpret sample and instrument data and provide this information to other departments and customers, as needed.Implement changes to assays, workflows, and sample handling, and provide support to leadership and team during transitional phases.Build and maintain systems for training and productions purposes, such as LIS, Exact Sciences system software (ESSS), and other platforms. Comply with laboratory procedures, such as CAP, CLIA, and OSHA regulations.Ability to perform multiple lab tests simultaneously.Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork, and professionalism.Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.Maintain regular and reliable attendance.Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.Ability to work designated schedule.Ability to lift up to 30 pounds for approximately 25% of a typical working day.Ability to work seated for approximately 50% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 50% of a typical working day.Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.Ability and means to travel between Madison Laboratory locations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or field as outlined in the essential duties.3+ years of experience in a laboratory setting that includes a minimum of two (2) years in high-complexity clinical laboratory and is eligible for ASCP certification.Demonstrated ability to perform high-complexity testing. Professional working knowledge of the theory of laboratory procedures, CAP, CLIA, and OSHA regulations.Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

Possession of ASCP certification or state licensure that has been determined to be equivalent at time of hire and maintain throughout employment in position.1+ years of experience in molecular testing that is relevant as outlined in the essential duties.1+ years of experience formally or informally leading people or initiatives in a clinical laboratory setting.#LI-AT1

Salary Range:

$60,000.00 - $97,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - AZ - Phoenix on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
