Clinical Manager Rehab Services

Summary:

Brown University Health Rehabilitation Services (LRS) Clinical Manger is responsible for the development implementation and day to day management of Occupational Therapy Physical Therapy and/or Speech Language Pathology services provided to adult patients from 18 years of age throughout the adult years including the geriatric population. Reports to Director of Rehabilitation Services. Recruits hires orients directs and evaluates professional and support staff. Analyzes quality of services and programs. Presents recommendations for changes to Department leadership as appropriate.

 

Responsibilities:

Communication

Demonstrates the highest level of communication and professionalism with patients caregivers rehabilitation staff providers and other health care professionals both within the hospital and in the community.

� Adjusts communication and response to the level of understanding of the listener

Collaborateswith LRS leadership in the development and implementation of short and long-term goals in consideration of Brown University Health�s mission statement values and key business objectives.

Ensures effective allocation and use of resources (people financial material and equipment) to meet the needs of the department.

Ensures effective recruitment and selection of professionals and support staff to meet the needs of the department.

Coordinates staff schedules and skill mix to efficiently provide needed services.

Participates in the development implementation and evaluation of related policies and procedures that guide and support provision of services.Ensures staff are knowledgeable and compliant with current policies and procedures.

Participates in the development of program/department goals in conjunction with Brown University Health mission affiliate goals and employee input.

Monitors program/departmental quality data and outcomes and reviews and facilitates analysis of data on a regular basis.

Works collaboratively with colleagues assistant clinical manager clinical specialists and senior therapists to ensure provision of care provided based on up-to-date evidence informed practice.

Integrates services and functions into the organization�s primary mission through collaboration effective communication and development of high-quality services and programs.

Participates in departmental and organization-wide multidisciplinary teams to identify and address opportunities for improvement in patient care experience quality and safety.

Effectively and continually communicates with staff management and customers to facilitate the flow of information necessary to the success of employees department function and the organization.

Abides with Brown University Health�s orientation policies and procedures to provide successful onboarding process for all staff. Ensures completion and documentation of Brown University Health-wide and departmental New Employee Orientation.

Ensures staff participate in mandatory annual training sessions and organizational compliance requirements.

Ensures employee competency and takes corrective action when necessary.

Ensures formal individual performance appraisals for all staff providing actionable feedback on performance and measurable goals.

Identifies departmental educational needs and provides opportunities for staff development.

Develops and maintains positive employee relations to promote employee-manager effectiveness and engagement in the workplace.

Participates and encourages staff participation in multidisciplinary performance improvement activities.

Provides stewardship of resources required to achieve the operating results and advocate for them by preparing accurate and timely budget submissions. Develops recommends implements and monitors operating and capital budgets for department. Completes analyzes and submits monthly budgetary variance reports.

Ensures compliance with all applicable quality regulatory payor and accreditation standards. Maintains quality assurance safety environmental and infection control standards.

Provides administrative and/or clinical direction as appropriate.

EXPERIENCE:

Seven years progressive management experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for Rehabilitation Services required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience demonstrates a very high level of written and oral communication skills effective leadership/ management skills and commitment to continuous quality improvement.

EDUCATION:

Master�s degree required Doctorate preferred; in one of the following professions:RI license in one of the following professions: Physical Therapy Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology

SUPERVISION:

Directly supervises employees.
