Summary:
Brown University Health Rehabilitation Services Pediatric Clinical Manger is responsible for the development implementation and day to day management of inpatient and outpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation at all Brown University Health Affiliates. Reports to the Vice President or Director of Rehabilitation Services. Recruits hires orients directs and evaluates professional and support staff. Analyzes quality of services and programs. Presents recommendations for changes to Department leadership as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with Brown University Health leadership in the development and implementation of short and long-term goals for Pediatric services in consideration of the mission statement values and key business objectives. Participates in the development implementation and evaluation of related policies and procedures for rehabilitation services. Identifies resources required to achieve the operating result and advocates for them during budget development and resource allocation. Monitors capital and operating budgets for affiliates� rehabilitation programs.
Through the assistant clinical mangers clinical coordinators and clinical specialists for impatient and outpatient services directs effective utilization of resources (people financial material and equipment) to meet established goals and objectives of each individual affiliate. In conjunction with Brown University Health leadership develops operating priorities to ensure activities support the system�s strategies while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Ensures effective recruitment selection development and evaluation of professionals and support staff assigned to the affiliate site to optimize achievement of goals and objectives.
Participates in the development and implementation of customer-focused coordinated delivery of rehabilitation services. Collaborates and consults with peers and colleagues by defining functional standards and translating them into usable applications and/or care patterns.
Collaborates with peers and colleagues to develop mutually workable solutions in order to ensure consistency and continuity of functional applications across the academic medical centers. Participates in the development of product lines and assessment of new programs; assesses market position and provides analysis for decision-making process; participates in the development of related business plans. Ensures processes provide for maximum reimbursement and productivity.
Promotes effective planning and coordination of services with physicians other departments and outside agencies/ organizations. Ensures all patient care activities support established standards of care meet or exceed patient care quality standards are in compliance with various regulatory agencies and consider age-specific needs of the patient populations served. Ensures effective customer relations between inpatient services ambulatory care physicians and the community.
Interprets and implements rehabilitation services philosophy policy and practice for the academic medical centers and affiliate-specific rehabilitation services policies procedures and standards of practice. Participates in the development implementation and evaluation of programs and services to consistently meet or exceed customer�s needs. Through effective continuous quality improvement practices maintains compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Provides for the related record-keeping systems. Provides for systems to assess patient family and community needs for services and programs. Ensures all patient care activities are carried out in consideration of the aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Serves as a role model to staff by continuously demonstrating Lifespan�s values and principles creating and maintaining effective positive customer service relationships by identifying customers and their needs ensuring the needs are met or exceeded and responding appropriately to difficult interactions and educating the staff on the importance of quality customer service. Effectively and continually communicates with the staff management and customers to facilitate the flow of information necessary to the success of employees department function and the organization. Provides for effective employee relations to promote employee-manager effectiveness and satisfaction in the workplace. Ensures compliance with human resources policies. Creates employee ownership for their careers and success and provides staff with positive and actionable feedback to maximize the utilization and potential of the organization�s human resources.
Facilitates continuous performance improvement by encouraging innovation supporting reasonable risk-taking and maintaining openness to new ideas. Collaborates with human resources development staff to identify needs and develop programs to provide for continuous development of rehabilitation staff. Provides clinical evaluation of patients formulation of treatment plans administering treatments and discharge planning.
Maintains level of knowledge and expertise in licensed area and keeps current in leading edge development in Pediatric services programs and innovative technology by participation in ongoing independent study education-related professional activities and affiliations.
Participates in or leads various committees task forces and quality improvement teams as needed

QUALIFICATIONS-EDUCATION:
Master�s degree required Doctorate preferred in one of the following professions: Physical Therapy Occupational Therapy Speech Language Pathology or Audiology State license issued by the Rhode Island Department of Health
QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE:
Five years progressively more responsible related experience providing services as a pediatric therapist for a full range of cases and preferably gained in a similarly diverse and operationally complex healthcare environment three years of which represent managerial/administrative responsibilities. Experience should demonstrate a high level of written and oral communication skills effective leadership/management skills and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
SUPERVISION:
Supervisory responsibility for up to 45 FTEs
