Performs analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients. Testing is performed in specialized laboratories and may include highly skilled manual techniques or automated testing using sophisticated instrumentation. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: instrument operation and maintenance, troubleshooting assays, evaluating tests for accuracy, assisting with interpreting results, and operational support activities to optimize testing. Works with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results. May work with minimal supervision and may assist with specimen collection. Must strictly adhere to safety protocols to work with infectious specimens, chemicals and other hazards.
Responsibilities
+ Operate and maintain laboratory instruments.
+ Troubleshoot assays and evaluate tests for accuracy.
+ Assist with interpreting test results.
+ Provide operational support to optimize testing.
+ Work with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results.
+ Adhere to safety protocols when handling infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.
+ Assist with specimen collection as needed.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a human biological science (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Animal Science, Marine Biology, Neuroscience).
+ Experience with laboratory instrumentation (GC, LC, HPLC, MS, etc.).
+ Capability of producing accurate results under time constraints.
+ Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced, changing environment.
+ Good communication skills and ability to work closely with others.
+ Willingness to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holiday, on-call, and weekend work assignments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with laboratory practices in a college, research, or clinical setting is a plus.
+ Master's degree accepted, but not a PhD.
+ Preferred degrees in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
Work Environment
This role is primarily based on HPLC, LC/MS/MS, or GC/MS and supports Endocrinology, Vitamin, or Therapeutic drug testing. Training shifts may vary from the regular shift of hire. The employee may attend first shift Monday-Friday day shift training for up to 1-2 months before moving into their regular schedule. The current opening is for M-F, 03:30pm - 12:00am. Please list full availability for shift and days, including weekends.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
