Responsibilities

This position is eligible for a $15,000 sign-on bonus, with a 2 year commitment. 

Our single linac external beam practice has a TrueBeam, ExacTrac Dynamic, and Aria integrated with four other regional practices and the Rochester, MN practice.  You will work beside one physicist locally, and collaborate as a team of ten regional physicists, and over forty midwest photon physicists.  If you enjoy working in an innovative and tight knit practice, while also having opportunities to engage with a large group of disease site and technology experts, come join us in historic La Crosse--steps away from the Mighty Mississippi River and Riverside Park, full of unique shops, lively entertainment, museums and art galleries, with many downtown events and festivals, including Riverfest, Oktoberfest, Historic Downtown Day and Rotary Lights, and year-round outdoor activities and recreation.

The Regional Physicist verifies, documents and maintains all information used in calculation and delivery of radiation doses given to patients. Analyzes and evaluates equipment performance used in the delivery of radiation therapy. Provides technical assistance and clinical support to Consultant staff and Allied health personnel as needed at the regional practice. Provides cross-coverage to other regional sites, which includes travel to other regional practice sites as staffing warrants. Remains current in all treatment techniques and applicable medical physics practice relevant to the regional site. Provides instruction to residents, dosimetry staff, therapy staff, pre- and postdoctoral students. Develops, and performs quality assurance procedures and monitors radiation output, mechanical integrity and safety of equipment used in radiation therapy. Remains current on Federal, State, and Institutional safety guidelines in particular applicable at the regional site.



Qualifications

M.S., M.M.P., D.M.P., or Ph.D. in Medical Physics or a master's and/or doctoral degree in Physics or a related field. American Board of Radiology, Therapeutic Medical Physics certification or equivalent.Three years post degree clinical medical physics experience. Regional Physicists are expected to be credentialed in all relevant procedures practiced at the regional clinic. 




Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Therapeutic Medical Physics and/or the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) in Radiation Oncology Physics.

Full Time. Nominally 0800 - 1700, with rare evening or weekend tasks. As site needs permit, optional two weeks of long-distance teleworking per year, and some work from home coverage.
