JOB SUMMARY

Location BSWH BUMC Downtown Dallas TX

Department Transplant and Genomics Core

Shift Day 8:30am - 5:00pm

\n

Preferred Experience Must have at least 2 years of working in a molecular laboratory Must have one of the following ASCP-SMB, ASCP-MB, CHT-ABHI or CHI-ABHI

\n

Perform high complexity clinical molecular assays in a fast-paced laboratory setting utilizing molecular knowledge/skills gained through clinical molecular experience, training and formal education.

\n

Develop / Confirm/ Implement high complexity molecular assays to improve transplant outcomes and further the advancement of personalized medicine.

\n

Adhere to/ Promote and Maintain regulatory compliance through all phases of validation, testing, QA, QC.

\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

\n\nMolecular Assay Development / Validation/ Implementation.\nPerform high complexity molecular testing of clinical samples utilizing many NGS platforms and applications.\nPerform high complexity molecular testing utilizing PCR, RT-PCR, nucleic acid purification.\nPerform high complexity molecular testing in compliance with departmental procedures, protocols and regulatory standards.\nQuality Assurance / Quality Control as related to all molecular procedures implemented / performed by the laboratory.\nInstrument evaluation, maintenance and calibration.\nTroubleshooting of nonconforming data, assay performance, instrument function.\nCritical testing/ interpretation and accurate reporting of results.\nEducation and training of laboratory staff in molecular techniques / assays.\nPerforms other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous way.\n\n

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

\n\nExtensive knowledge of molecular biology values and molecular biology techniques: DNA sequencing over many platforms, PCR, RT-PCR, nucleic acid purification.\nExtensive knowledge of / experience in primer design, sequencing applications, RNA extraction, cfDNA extraction, and human lymphocyte subpopulation isolation.\nMolecular bench skills that adhere to all applicable clinical laboratory standards/ regulations, protocols and procedures.\nKnowledge of / experience with liquid handling systems and flow cytometry basics.\nKnowledge of / experience with Bioinformatics pipelines and tools.\nSelf-motivated, data and critical thinking abilities.\nSkilled in documentation/ writing of procedures, protocols.\nEffective communication skills to partner/ train and educate.\n\n

       ASCP-BloodBanking Technologist (ASCP-BB), ASCP-Chemistry Technologist (ASCP-C), ASCP-Cytogenetics Technologist (ASCP-CG), ASCP-Cytologist (ASCP-CT), ASCP-Hematology Technologist (ASCP-H), ASCP-Microbiology Technologist (ASCP-M), Molecular Biology Technologist (ASCP-MB), ASCP-Blood Banking Specialist (ASCP-SBB), ASCP-Chemistry Specialist (ASCP-SC), ASCP-Hematology Specialist (ASCP-SH), ASCP-Microbiology Specialist (ASCP-SM), Cert Histocompatibility Spec (CHS-ABHI): Must have one of the following.
