The Registered Nurse Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) is a member of the Nursing Administrative Team. He/She reports directly to the unit director and provides oversight/supervision to other RNs working. The RN CNC is responsible for the coordination of daily clinical staffing and works directly with nursing department manager to ensure staffing needs on nursing units are met. He/She conducts daily monitoring of staff and is responsible for the scheduling. The RN CNC may provide direct or indirect patient care across all nursing areas of the hospital. He/she functions in a leadership role and is responsible for coaching clinical nurses as needed. The RN CNC must possess good communication skills and must be able to effectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients and families. He/She works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure quality care is delivered.

Provide nursing care appropriate to the condition and needs of the patient.
Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide care to patients
Consulting and collaborating with other nurse leaders to enhance the performance of clinical care providers
Establishing, reviewing, revising, and following the patient plan of care
Administering medications and treatments within the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse
Recording patient care activities within the patient’s medical record
Using a variety of computer systems
Operating medical equipment used in the care of the patients
Providing patient and family education related to treatment, diagnosis, medications, discharge and self-care.
Providing patient care following nursing standards of care in a manner that promotes excellent outcomes, avoids harm to patients, and promotes health and healing.
Will fill in when Director is not present.
Collection of data entry.
Audit patient charts.
Other duties as assigned
Non-Essential Functions
Accepts all call schedule as directed
Works scheduled shifts including overtime, nights, weekends, holidays when necessary
Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service, projects and committees as assigned
Adheres to and supports policies and procedures of STRHS
Maintains a neat and professional appearance in compliance to the existing dress code.
Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
Must possess an active RN license in the state of TN or hold a Compact State RN license with the intent to obtain a TN RN license within 30 days of hire.
Required Skills
Certifications:
BLS - current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire.
ACLS - current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire.
PALS - current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire.
NRP - current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire.
Handle with Care Instructor - must obtain within 6 months from date of hire.
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred
Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course ENPC preferred
SABE trained preferred
Minimum Work Experience
Minimum 2 years clinical experience in a variety of clinical settings
Required Skills
Must possess strong computer skills and have the ability to work with multiple computer systems
Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English
Must be able to operate standard patient care equipment for services provided.
Must possess the ability to work well under pressure, to adapt quickly in changing situations, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings.
