Clinical Nurse D-Inpatient

- UH: 8A Medical ICU - (Full-Time, Day Shift) -

The Clinical Nurse D - Inpatient is a seasoned expert in clinical practice for patient population served. Serves as an exemplary role model and utilizes skilled discretion and independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, provide and document direct/indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. Performs the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) autonomously and in accordance with LLUMC’s established Professional Practice Model (Duffy’s Quality Caring Theory) to achieve proficient individualized physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellness and provide compassionate bereavement support. Meets qualifications, licensure, certifications and competencies as defined in the unit/department-specific Plan for Providing Care. Functions in a skills mix environment and effectively supervises and delegates tasks to a team of licensed and unlicensed staff in accordance with level of competency. Adeptly resolves disagreements/conflicts among team members as needed. Excels in applying theoretical concepts to clinical practice and exhibits self-motivation to continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty and patient population served. Inspires and mentors others in the advancement of evidence into bed-side practice to optimize patient outcomes. Functions within the expectations of a highly proficient professional nurse and meets nursing excellence standards to achieve and maintain Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Represents nursing as an empowered profession and enthusiastically embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements. Provides a positive influence to facilitate change and optimize patient satisfaction and outcomes. Engages and motivates others to engage in opportunities to directly and/or indirectly influence decision-making for bedside clinical practice by supporting and/or participating in professional/shared governance councils, committees, task forces and staff meetings. Exhibits superior interpersonal skills that portray professionalism and maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. May be required to participate in on-call rotation based on department business needs. May be requested to serve in Shift Coordinator role upon completion of Shift Coordinator orientation. Performs other duties as needed.
