Clinical Nurse Educator - Critical Care (0.45 FTE, Exempt)

Assists with clinical education for St.  Peter’s Health staff in critical care areas of ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, ED, Urgent Care and Dialysis.  Functions in the role as a clinician, educator, consultant, and supporter of research.  Acts as a leader, innovator and change agent to foster improved nursing quality care. Develops and ensures quality standards and competencies for nursing practice for specific populations. Assists with staff clinical orientation, skills assessment/development and in-service education.  Collaborates with medical and leadership staff to monitor the clinical care of patients and provides clinical support to improve patient care and patient outcomes.  Collaborates with all of St. Peter’s entities to establish, develop, implement and maintain Quality Improvement programs, policies, procedures and standards to guide professional practice and meet regulatory requirements.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years of recent staff development leadership and clinical expertise in areas of specialty. Excellent negotiation, facilitation, presentation and computer skills. Knowledge of best practice research and resources, disease processes and teaching methods.  Knowledge of nursing theory, nursing practice and educational theory including adult learning principles.  Excellent written and verbal skills, analytical skills necessary to review research, collect and interpret data to support clinical improvement. Possession of cognitive, organizational and emotional abilities to deal effectively with multiple stressors, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customer needs.

EDUCATION:  BSN Required.  Master’s degree in nursing with a certification in a related clinical specialty strongly preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current Montana State registered nurse licensure and CPR certification required. ACLS certification preferred.
