Summary:
The Clinical Practice Lead/RN provides day to day clinical and administrative support for the clinical staff in the ambulatory care department and assumes leadership responsibility in the absence of the supervisor. The individual is responsible for the personnel management, including assisting with hiring, orientation, onboarding, evaluation, education, competency assessment, coaching, and mentorship. The individual coordinates patient and staff schedules and improving patient throughput. As the clinical expert in the department, key roles for Clinical Practice Lead/RN include performing telephone triage, triage of desk top messages, labs, and other reports to assure appropriate follow up, providing expert clinical care within the scope of the registered nurse, and guiding and supporting the day-to-day tasks of the clinical team. The Clinical Practice Lead/RN is first and foremost a clinical expert in the selected area of practice who demonstrates a commitment to clinical excellence in a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities:
+ Supervision and development of clinical personnel, including orientation, education, competency development and assessment, assistance with interviews, coaching evaluations, scheduling, assisting with timecards, and documentation.
+ As a clinical expert around specialty, assists with clinical coverage of the department within the scope of the RN including triage, desktop management, Anticoagulation management according to policy and protocol, assessment and development of a care plan; performs technical skills of the RN expertly.
+ Reviews and implements policies, workflows, and procedures for the department. Participates in the development of policies and workflows as needed.
+ Supports performance improvement activities, including data collection, audits, research, reporting, and incident report management.
+ Prepares the department to meet regulatory and safety requirements. Maintains readiness for surveys. Responds to and investigates incident reports of a clinical nature and participates in the development of actions plans.

+ BLS Required.
+ Must meet certification and competency requirements for the RN position within the department assigned. For example, if the department assigned requires nurses to possess ACLS, the lead must have that certification.
+ This is a supervisory position with clinical responsibility for day-to-day operations of a medical practice. Has no direct reports in INFOR but is responsible for assisting the leadership team with oversight of all clinical staff in the department. Must be able to cover multiple areas and roles within the department.
+ Performs clinical skills within the scope of an RN within that department.
