Clinical Nurse Leader - PACU (Full Time)
**Job Type:** Regular **Time Type:** Full time **Work Shift:** Day (United States of America) **FLSA Status:** Non-Exempt **When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives.** This position is full time, 40 hours per week. **Job Description:** **POSITION FUNCTION:** The Nursing Clinical Leader will be responsible for the safe and efficient flow of our surgical patients from the preoperative and recovery phases through discharge or placement. The nursing clinical leader will serve as a mentor, collaborator and clinical expert. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Under the direction of the Nurse Manager of the PACU, supervises, guides and mentors PACU staff to carry out their responsibilities in the management of our surgical patients. + Coordinates the daily activity of nursing personnel by utilizing effective communication, emotional intelligence and leadership skills with all interactions. + Works collaboratively with the anesthesia floor leader, nursing supervisor and OR nursing clinical leader for daily OR efficiency and through put. + Assist with key performance indicators for the PACU to include on time first starts, turnaround time and patient through put. + Analyzes staffing requirements, assigns personnel, calls in replacement personnel or authorizes overtime as needed. + Reassigns personnel as appropriate and assists in the evaluation and/or discipline process for assigned personnel. + Resolves conflicts or problems that may develop or refers to the surgical services leadership team on duty as appropriate. + Functions as resource person for surgical services issues involving nursing practice, standards, policy and procedure, or through put. Follows through with process improvement and quality improvement as indicated. + Communicates effectively with the physician staff regarding issues pertinent to patient care which require discussion and/or resolution. + Responsible for scheduling and daily assessment of ANSOS and ensure adequate staffing per shift and call coverage. Communicates staffing concerns as needed to PACU manager/Director of SS. + Serves as a flow coordinator with both the OR clinical leader, anesthesia floor leader and bed facilitator/supervisor for the hospital. + Participate in oversight of nursing orientation for all new employees in the operating room + In conjunction with the Nurse Manager, actively participate in hiring and onboarding of new OR nursing personnel. + Initiates and leads daily board huddles and assesses weekly schedule + Provide support for monitoring of competency requirements and license requirements of staff + Works collaboratively with the Surgical services educator to identify educational needs and in-services. + Participates in the development of goals and objectives for the Nursing Department as appropriate. Reviews nursing practices, standards, policies and procedures and makes + Attends and/or participates in in-house or outside training programs to improve and augment skills and knowledge. Performs all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules, and regulations set forth by appropriate regulatory and government agencies and in accordance with established department and hospital policies and procedures. May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the Manager/Director The nature of the tasks/responsibilities required of employees in this position will likely expose them to blood and body fluids. Employees will be oriented to and required to understand and follow the standard precautions for infection control. Also identified is the protective gear that is available **QUALIFICATIONS:** + Minimum Education: BSN required, BLS, ACLS through the American Heart Association + Work Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience in the recovery room.
