Summary:
Works in collaboration with designated psychiatrist to provide medical and psychiatric consultation and education services to consumers families caregivers and staff members regarding comprehensive symptom management in office home and community.
Responsibilities:
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee client�s psychiatric and medical services.
Evaluate clients by means of a comprehensive multidimensional psychiatric assessment.
Assess mental status current functioning current medications medication history treatment history allergies drug/alcohol use and medical problems.
Request medical evaluation by a primary care physician when a client�s clinical symptoms require PCP assessment.
Prescribe specific medications in drug classes as defined by state and federal law in area of expertise (i.e. children or adults).
Takes and records clients vital signs and evaluates for medical referral as necessary. Conducts medical assessment for clients at intake and review/update as needed.
Conducts educates and assists in emergency client assessments referring to inpatient treatment and helping team members in implementing emergency client assessment and hospital protocols.
Completes medical record documentation in accordance with Gateway policies/procedures and Medicaid guidelines.
Oversee medication monitoring services. Includes responsibility for ensuring that storage of and access to medications are implemented according to agency policies and procedures and disposal of out-dated medications per RI Health Department specifications.
Ensure compliance with Infection Control Nutrition policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Current nursing license master�s degree in nursing and certification as a Clinical Specialist by the American Nurse�s Credentialing Center.
Must meet the state�s requirement for an initial 30 hours of pharmacology of psycyhotropic medication then must complete
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to provide own reliable transportation.
Maintain valid driver�s license at all times.
Ability to adhere to C.D.C. guidelines for disease and infection control.
JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:
Ability to read analyze and interpret professional journals policies & procedures and governmental regulations.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from professionals managers clients family and the general public.
Ability to clearly and cogently document clinical information in accordance with GHI P&P.
Ability to write reports and general correspondence.
Ability to analyze client and system information identify problems establish facts and draw valid conclusions develop options and strategies for resolving problems monitor implementation and evaluate the problem solving process for effectiveness.
Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables concurrently.
Ability to successfully complete all required training and certifications
Oral and written communication skills including speech grammar spelling and legibility are at sufficient level to ensure effective and appropriate communication.
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals either manually or by use of a calculator.
