Overview Provides oversight of direct patient care to support patient and staff needs. Serves as a lead, clinical resource, role model, and extension of the Nurse Manager to uphold institutional priorities, policies and practices. Inpatient Hematology/Oncology at Dartmouth is comprised of 2 spaces on the unit. 23 beds for patients admitted for extended chemotherapy schedules and associated symptom management issues as well as Oncology Gynecology surgery patients during their immediate post operative phase. An additional 9 beds whereStem Cell Transplant and CAR-T-Cell Therapy patients are cared for. Nurses interested in learning and growing in this space may have the opportunity to receive their Stem Cell Transplant and REMs certification training to work with these patients. These highly specialized staff will also have the opportunity to help out the general Hem/Onc and Gyn Onc Post Op patients. Responsibilities * Participates in performance management of staff members to include coaching, preparation of performance evaluations, and the performance management process. Initiates disciplinary action as appropriate. * Completes administrative duties assigned. * Promotes clinical growth within the team. * Coaches and mentors new hires, as well as employees transitioning into new roles within the unit. * Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications * Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required. * Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) at time of hire. * 2 years of progressive responsibility within an acute care setting required. * Specialty certification preferred. * Must obtain and maintain clinical competencies within assigned unit. * Excellent written, verbal and computer skills required. * Demonstrated abilities with problem solving, leadership, communication, fiscal responsibility and teamwork. * Ability to work effectively in groups of employees and with patients and patient families is essential.
