Position Summary:
To assist and support the Clinical Nutrition Manager in the day-to-day operations. To conduct performance evaluations and assist in daily and ongoing staffing needs. Responsibilities also include developing, maintaining and evaluating programs, policies and procedures and improvement processes to assure ongoing excellent nutrition care and services. To help with training schedules, dietician assignments, evaluation and management clinical staff. Provides direct clinical nutrition care to Methodist’s patients of all ages. Nutritional care includes assessment of nutritional status, develop, implement and monitor appropriate patient-specific, evidence-based nutrition care plans for those at nutritional risk and patient education.
Work Schedule: FTE 1.0, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, occasional weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:Bachelor’s degree and completion of an American Dietetic Association approved internship (nine months to one year) or supervised practice programThree years’ experience in clinical nutrition or related fieldLicensure/ Registration/ Certification:Registration as a dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD)Licensed by the State of MN Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice (LD)Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge and application of nutrition science, medical nutrition therapy and clinical practice guidelines for people throughout the life cycle from newborn through old age and of human behavior and techniques for effecting behavior change.Knowledge of foods and nutrition as it pertains to health and disease.Knowledge of food service management and communication tools.Knowledge of supplements, formulas and parenteral nutrition solutions and their appropriate uses.Knowledge of JC (Joint Commission) and CMS standardsKnowledge of acceptable continuous improvement processes Ability to read and interpret medical terminology and laboratory values.Ability to assess a patient’s nutritional status and implement a nutrition care plan.Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the health care team and other departments throughout the healthcare systemAbility to interview, teach and counsel patients and members of the community.Ability to coordinate and lead a group.Ability to use a computer terminal to retrieve information.Ability to effectively teach, guide and evaluate interns in all rotationsAbility to effectively supervise and manage professional staffAbility to develop good interpersonal relationships.
