Position Summary
At an advanced level, serves the department by demonstrating strong clinical decision making skills with the ability to coach and mentor staff at all skill levels. Partners with staff to address and resolve complex patient issues. Works closely with Clinical Manager to ensure a seamless delivery of patient care across the unit(s) and serves as resource to staff regarding clinical care, evidence based practice, patient outcomes, safety, and nursing policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Work Experience
Three years of experience as a staff nurse with demonstrated leadership skills required.
Education Graduate of a school of nursing, with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a Bachelor’s of Science required. Master’s degree preferred.
Certifications/Licensure Kentucky RN License (OR) RN license in a state recognized by the Kentucky Nurse Licensure Compact Act required effective June 1, 2007. Professional certification in field required within 6 months from hire or placement. Serves as a clinical expert by demonstrating advanced clinical decision making skills. Partners with staff to address and resolve complex patient issues. Provides leadership in problem identification and coordinates resolutions as need. Promotes an atmosphere supportive of process improvement and assists staff with skilled problem solving techniques, education, and active participation in quality and process improvement initiatives. Integrates the principles and philosophy of evidence-based practice and coaches nursing staff in applying evidence to practice. Appraises practice and works to improve safety, reduce harm and enhance customer experience. Establish clinical pathways, order sets, guidelines, and standards in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team. Aids in coaching, mentoring, and educating staff in practice and professional development issues in partnership with educator. Conducts huddles and debriefs related to safety and practice. Mines for details and process improvement opportunities. Acts as a connector to practice councils at the unit and system level and supports problem solving.
