The Clinical Lab Processor II is responsible for all blood draws, urinalysis, rapid tests, and swabs performed within Opelousas General Health System, hospital clinics, nursing and assisted living areas. The Clinical Lab Processor II receives and processes specimens such as blood and urine samples in a laboratory, captures data and handles client/ patient and healthcare practitioner inquiries. The Clinical Lab Processor will confirm client and specimen details, and ascertain adequacy and appropriateness of specimens. The Clinical Lab Processor II will ensure that all specimens are labeled and stored effectively, process specimens and dispose of specimens. Will ensure that the lab processing and receiving table is maintained and kept in an orderly condition at all times. The Clinical Lab Processor II will calibrate instruments, maintain equipment and sanitize the working environment. Clinical Lab Processors are further responsible to assist with the proper collection as patients arrive to the outpatient lab area or admitted into health organization the clinical lab processor is to review medical record or patient identification bracelet, follow printed lab orders and determine vials to be drawn per patient. Clinical Lab Processor II is also to provide effective communication/education to patients on the proper collection of urinalyses, stool specimens, etc. and is to work closely with lab , nursing and clinical staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Vocational/Technical degree in Phlebotomy preferred.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
• Completion of clinical training through certified phlebotomy training program or in house apprenticeship
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
