Clinical Professor, Internal Medicine-Nephrology

JOB DESCRIPTION:

UTMB Nephrology is seeking an experienced clinical educator to support the programmatic growth of the Interventional Nephrology program. This position is not responsible for direct patient care or billing responsibilities, but would be very actively hands-on in the clinical operation of the Vascular Access program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Teaching & Mentorship: Train and mentor fellows and faculty in clinical and technical aspects of interventional nephrology. Educational Leadership: Conduct didactic sessions and educational activities within the division, including the conference bootcamp for Dr. Hussein. Participate in the Division’s academic activities. Program Growth: Provide support & guidance to grow the current procedure volume. Fellowship Program Development: Help design and implement the Interventional Nephrology Fellowship program, including creating the program curriculum in partnership with division leadership. Operational Excellency: Optimize the billing for the IN work & train the faculty and fellows.  Assist with Value-Based initiatives in the division of Nephrology pertaining to vascular access. Research Support: Guide and support research initiatives within the interventional nephrology program. Community Outreach: Enhance connections with community nephrologists to strengthen the program’s outreach and referral network. Strategic Support: Assist with division leadership with strategic initiatives, as-needed, such as creating a new Nephrology endowment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: MD degree or equivalent. Training: Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency and Nephrology Fellowship program. Certification: Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Licensure: Eligibility for Texas medical licensure.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred Candidates:

10 years of experience doing interventional nephrology procedures. Experience developing successful interventional nephrology programs.

SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
