Pay Range: $104,000 to $157,000

 

The Clinical Program Manager is a Registered Nurse (RN) who is responsible for the management of multiple facets of the Spine program. Partners with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure the delivery of safe, quality patient care and compliance with regulatory standards, and administrative and clinical policies and procedures, implementing quality and safety initiatives, and assuring compliance with regulatory requirements associated with the program. Functions as a clinical resource and facilitates patient care by evaluating the impact of care delivery and nursing practice on patient outcomes. Creates and sustains a patient care environment that supports a safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, productive, and engaged staff. May support other quality and patient safety initiatives under the purview of the Quality and Patient Safety department. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – 

Performed majority of the time 

·       Partners effectively with physician and executive leadership, including the Spine Program Medical Director, in management of all aspects of the spine program

·       Serves as a subject matter expert for regulatory requirements and best practice associated with the program including audits to identify areas of risk and/or opportunities to improve outcomes.

·       Monitors and analyzes key quality indicators to guide performance improvement related to the program. 

Management of Regulatory Certification, and Survey Processes

·       Responsible for managing the application for certification in collaboration with the Regulatory Program Manager.  Manages ongoing updates to the application with regular communication with the Executive Leadership Team.

·       Manages the survey process including but not limited to: survey planning and coordination and responding to certification and regulatory bodies for any subsequent corrective action plans and related objective evidence summaries.

Data Management

·       Data collection

o   Collaborates with team members in development of the methodology, procedures and forms for data collection

o   Gathers and compiles raw data from a variety of sources

o   Facilitates the timely, accurate and concise collection of data

o   Utilizes appropriate software applications for data collection and assures timely compilation of data analysis

o   Demonstrates the ability to track down information through various resources

·       Reporting and Facilitation

o   Prepares and/or presents comprehensive reports and presentations to appropriate committees, management and other audiences within defined timeframes.

o   Ensures appropriate formatting, content and production of regular and ad hoc reports.

o   Analyzes, interprets and validates data

o   Interprets the statistical significance of data analysis and identifies performance improvement opportunities

·       Facilitates adherence to best practice and/or quality indicators through patient, multidisciplinary and unit rounds.

·       Assists in spine program development and quality improvement initiatives.

·       Ensures continuous compliance with certification standards.

·       Maintaining and updating pathways, protocols, and patient educational materials.

·       Monitor outcomes data and collections.

·       Active participant in the certification process.

·       Collaborates with hospital and departmental leadership, providers and the interdisciplinary team(s) to develop, monitor progress and audit corrective action plans related to organizational goals, performance improvement initiatives, serious safety events, and/or regulatory surveys related to the programs. Facilitates program committee meetings including required record maintenance.

·       Provides reports on program performance and initiatives as requested. These may include quality management reports and feedback to internal and external stakeholders.

·       Collaborates with departmental leadership and providers to prepare for regulatory surveys associated with the programs.

·       Coordinates and teaches classes related to the Spine program to both internal and external audiences.

·       Collaborates with clinical leadership in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines related to the programs.

Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:

·       Develops and maintains collegial relationships with other Quality professionals and OHSU counterparts by participating in continuing education, professional group sessions and enterprise meetings related to the programs.

·       Represents the organization through participation in various internal and external committees, professional organizations and various groups related to the programs.

·       Relates pertinent information to the organization’s Administrative Team, Medical Directors and various organization committees.

·       May serve as the system administrator for databases and other electronic programs.

Decision making and budget responsibilities (e.g. impact limited to the employee, entire unit or organization-wide):

·       Decisions can impact the quality of care of patients and program certifications.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

Required

·       Bachelor or Master of Science in Nursing. 

·       A copy of your highest academic diploma or transcript required upon hire.

Preferred

·       Master’s degree in health-related field.

Experience:

Required

·       Minimum three (3) years of related clinical experience in the acute care setting.

Preferred

·       At least five (5) years of related experience.

·       Clinical experience in spinal surgery.

·       At least three (3) years of experience in a Quality Improvement program.

·       Experience administering or managing parts or subsets of a project or program within healthcare.

·       Experience interpreting program policies and other control documentation, writing and updating policy and other key documents and making recommendations for change.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

Required

·       Current unencumbered licensure as an RN from the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

·       American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).

Preferred

·       Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality

·       Ability to facilitate meetings and provide education as needed.

·       Bilingual skills a plus.
