Balboa Park encompasses several mesas and canyons to the northeast, surrounded by older, dense urban communities including Hillcrest and North Park. To the east and southeast lie City Heights, the College Area, and Southeast San Diego. To the north lies Mission Valley and Interstate 8. The communities north of the valley and freeway, and south of Marine Corps Air Station Mirmar, include Clairemont, Kearny Mesa, Tierrasanta, and Navajo. Stretching north from Miramar are the northern suburbs of Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch, Rancho Penasquitos, and Ranch Bernado. For more information, please visit the following link: https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/working-in-government/benefits/ **Responsibilities** + Plan, direct, manage, evaluate, develop an organizational and conceptual leadership to a clinical psychology training program. + Provide training, direction and instruction to nurse providers, certified/licensed and unlicensed counselors, psychology interns, psychiatry residents, and paraprofessionals. + Provide professional oversight of training in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. + Conduct peer supervision and review of records + Evaluate and revise standard operating procedures + Conduct program evaluation. + Review data provided in reports of special actions. + Evaluate and approve educational packet. + Performs other duties as assigned. + **Conditions of Employment:** + Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. + Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment. + Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. + Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series. + The employee must be licensed and maintain a license for independent practice as a clinical psychologist in a U.S. State, commonwealth, or territory. + This position requires a Secret Clearance **Qualifications** **Who May Apply: US Citizens** **Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist** **Degree:** Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. **Specialized Experience:** One year of specialized experience which includes **performing psychological evaluations, developing behavioral health treatment plans, and providing psychological counseling services.** This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. **License:** The Clinical Psychologist position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
