Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Health Psychologist/Behavioral Health Consultant
The Department of Family & Community Medicine at the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is recruiting a clinical psychologist/clinical health psychologist for our growing clinical practice and Family Medicine (FM) residency program. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited psychology program (APA/CPA‐accredited program) and have completed an APA‐accredited internship/residency in clinical/counseling psychology. Candidates must also be experienced in providing integrated behavioral health services in primary care settings within the Primary Care Behavioral Health Consultation Model and be skilled in the use of targeted assessment and treatment approaches for behavioral health disorders (e.g., anxiety, depression, substance use, etc.), medical conditions (e.g., chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes management, etc.) and health behavior change (e.g., weight management, tobacco cessation, exercise, etc.).
This position will hold a faculty appointment of Assistant or Associate Professor/ Clinical (Non-Tenure Track) depending on qualifications and experience and will have a joint appointment in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. In addition to functioning as a Behavioral Health Consultant, duties also include supervision of family medicine residents, medical students, and psychology residents/fellows/externs within PCBH consultation model at the Family Health Center (FHC) located at the Robert B. Green outpatient clinic campus. Candidates will assist the FM Behavioral Health Education Director with curriculum development and teaching for the FM residency. Clinical research and quality improvement initiatives that relate to primary care and primary care training are also encouraged. Candidates with interest and/or experience in consultation-liaison services within an inpatient medical setting are also encouraged to apply as the position will include time working with patients and trainees on the inpatient Family Medicine service.
Applicants must be eligible to obtain a Texas psychology license. In addition, candidates must be eligible for clinical privileges with the University Health System under the appropriate staff category and must agree to abide by those privileges as outlined by the current bylaws of the institution. Additionally, applicants with board-certification in Clinical Health Psychology (CHP) by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) are highly encouraged to apply. If ABPP board-certification is not present, it is expected that the faculty member will achieve ABPP in CHP within three years of being hired.
