Overview Fairview is looking for a Clinical Quality Consultant to support our Fairview Northland Hospital and Fairview Lakes Hospital in Princeton, MN and Wyoming, MN. Job Summary: The Clinical Quality Consultant will work with a variety of constituencies. The Clinical Quality Consultant may liaison with medical staff committees. This includes collaboration with Medical Staff Chairpersons, Hospital Administrators, and Service Line Directors to create successful Medical Staff Committee Meetings and to promote alignment between the hospital and Medical Staff goals. This also includes facilitation of the peer review process. The Clinical Quality Consultant may assist hospital committees and taskforces, including membership, participation in the assignments, accountability for output, or chairperson in some cases. The Clinical Quality Consultant may manage elements of the Occurrence Reporting system, including quality referral investigation and resolution. The Clinical Quality Consultant may facilitate Root Cause Analysis of specific events where there has been variation from the established process of patient care. The Clinical Quality Consultant may also function as facilitator for Joint Commission Accreditation - establishing structure, mechanisms, and expectations so that the hospital maintains Joint Commission Accreditation. This function includes management within other domains of regulation and compliance, to the extent that those domains are necessary for Joint Commission accreditation. The Clinical Quality Consultant may also function as a consultant within the hospital for clinical quality process improvements. This function involves identification and implementation of practice standards, assistance in establishing goals and focus, advising on the necessary elements if successful process management, aid in establishing measurement design and reporting mechanisms, and assuring standards of administrative documentation are met. Responsibilities Job Description Job Expectations: 1. Leadership in Investigations and Analysis: Lead investigations into complex quality and patient safety events to identify root causes and prevent recurrence. Use industry-standard tools and methodologies to analyze systems and identify areas of improvement. Facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCA), including interviewing staff, documenting events, and developing corrective action plans. Ensure the successful implementation and monitoring of corrective actions to prevent future incidents. 2. Project Planning and Implementation: Assist in the development, coordination, and execution of safety projects aligned with the Patient Safety Strategic Plan. Apply principles of reliable design to ensure evidence-based care delivery and reduce preventable harm. Partner with facility leaders and experts to implement corrective actions and system changes that enhance patient safety. 3. Strategic Improvement Initiatives: Investigate complex patient safety, quality, and organizational issues to inform strategic priorities for improvement. Redesign systems and processes to enhance care quality and minimize errors. Manage and direct cross-functional, house-wide performance projects, ensuring the projects are completed successfully. Address resource barriers and collaborate with leadership to ensure full implementation of the improvement program. 4. Regulatory Knowledge and Compliance: Demonstrate a solid understanding of relevant regulatory requirements such as CMS, JCAHO, and HIPAA. Ensure that improvement strategies align with these regulations during the planning and implementation phases. 5. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with facility leaders, clinical teams, and system experts to ensure the successful execution of patient safety initiatives. Develop process and performance improvement plans in collaboration with stakeholders. Use data and evidence to drive decision-making and communicate progress and results to leadership. Key Skills and Competencies: Strong knowledge of patient safety and quality improvement methodologies. Ability to lead complex, multi-departmental projects. Expertise in regulatory standards and their application in quality improvement initiatives. Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to translate findings into actionable improvements. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with staff at all levels and foster a culture of safety. Qualifications Required Education Bachelor’s Degree Experience Three years of experience in a healthcare setting. Patient Safety experience a plus.
