Job Details The Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist plays a key role in improving patient outcomes and ensuring accurate clinical documentation to improve patient safety and hospital acquired infections. This proactive professional conducts real-time chart reviews, collaborates with clinical teams, and drives performance improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering a culture of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities Chart Reviews and Analysis Conduct concurrent reviews of patient medical records to identify potential PSIs, HAIs, and other quality concerns. Ensure clinical documentation accurately reflects the severity of illness, risk of mortality, and compliance with quality metrics. Identify and address gaps in documentation that could impact patient safety, quality measures, or reimbursement. Collaboration and Communication Partner with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to address documentation issues and provide education on quality standards. Work with the Infection Prevention team to identify and mitigate risks related to HAIs. Serve as a subject matter expert on documentation best practices, quality metrics, and regulatory requirements. Quality Improvement Initiatives Lead initiatives to reduce PSIs, HAIs, and other adverse events based on insights from chart reviews and data analysis. Collaborate on multidisciplinary projects to improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiency. Monitor and report on trends in patient safety metrics to guide quality improvement efforts. Education and Training Educate clinical staff on best practices for documentation, patient safety measures, and infection control. Conduct workshops and training sessions to ensure staff are up-to-date on regulatory requirements and quality initiatives. Data Management and Reporting Analyze and report data related to PSIs, HAIs, and documentation performance to identify opportunities for improvement. Prepare dashboards and reports for leadership, summarizing progress, challenges, and actionable recommendations. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s Degree preferred. Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing, quality improvement, patient safety, or a related role. Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, PSIs, HAIs, and clinical documentation standards. Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and data analysis tools. Skills Strong understanding of clinical documentation practices and their impact on patient safety and quality metrics. Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and quality dashboard creation. Key Competencies Expertise in quality, patient safety and regulatory compliance. Leadership and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Knowledge of infection control and quality improvement methodologies. Working Conditions Onsite work. Monday through Friday Salary Range USD $110,000.00 - USD $135,000.00 /Yr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
