The University of Vermont Health Network Radiology Department is seeking a Clinical Practice Radiologist to provide care at its Middlebury, Vermont campus.

The Department of Radiology of The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont ( UVM ) is seeking a 0.9 FTE clinical Radiologist for a full-time faculty appointment on the Clinical Physician Pathway. This radiologist will join the University of Vermont Health Network ( UVMHN ) to provide radiology services for Porter Medical Center in Middlebury, Vermont. Porter is a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital that provides routine, urgent and emergent care for the people of the mid and southern portions of the Champlain Valley. Porter supports a busy Emergency Department, a robust network of employed and private primary care providers and a range of surgical specialists. The University of Vermont Medical Center, hub of the Network, is a short one hour North.
The compensation package is competitive and the University of Vermont Medical Group offers loan repayment assistance. If a Clinical Practice Physician develops substantial academic activities after two or more years of employment, they may be considered for Clinical Scholar appointments as opportunity hires.
Responsibilities for the ideal candidate include interpretation of diagnostic radiology studies for adult and pediatric patients in areas of service including X-ray, CT, MRI , ultrasound (US), basic nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy, and screening and diagnostic mammography. Interventional skills to support arthrograms, US- and mammography-guided breast biopsy and US-guided thyroid FNA would be desirable.
Imaging equipment includes a Philips Ingenia 1.5T MRI , Philips Brilliance 64 slice CT scanner and Hologic Tomosynthesis unit with C-View. IT infrastructure includes Visage PACS with Nuance Workflow Orchestration and PowerScribe interfaced with Epic EMR .
This is a practice that balances a range of exam modalities and exam complexities over the course of the work day. A rotating schedule incorporates on-site weeks that emphasize mammography, fluoroscopy, US and basic procedures, off-site weeks from a home workstation that emphasize CT and MRI , and interspersed with off-service weeks. After-hours Radiology services are managed via third party final reads with rotating call shared among 3 Porter-based radiologists. For the appropriate individual, there are opportunities to practice up to 30% in one subspecialty area, either remotely or on-site at the UVMHN academic medical center. The academic practice includes 36 full and part-time radiologists who serve as the clinical faculty for a 24 member ACGME -approved diagnostic radiology residency program at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont. Teaching opportunities will be available as resident and medical student rotations to Porter are planned. This is a non-tenured Clinical Practice Physician Pathway position with a University of Vermont appointment. We are seeking an individual who will contribute to the division’s pursuit of clinical excellence, patient care and multidisciplinary collaboration with our clinical colleagues.
