Clinical Research Accounting Specialist
Under general supervision of the Manager, the Clinical Research Accounting Specialist II assists with both accounts receivable and accounts payable financial transactions generated from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute clinical research activity. Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to the Sr. Clinical Research Accounting Specialist. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals. + Manage and process accounts payable and accounts receivable invoices and payments in a timely manner + Ensure all invoices are properly authorized, coded, and recorded + Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to the Sr. Clinical Research Accounting Specialist + Maintain accurate and organized accounts receivable/payable files and pursue collections from extramural research sponsors. + Track clinical research trial activity in the Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS) and interface with stakeholders to update financial activity/tracking. + Work with study team members to track, invoice, and collect fixed and variable fixed fees associated with clinical research activity. + May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring Clinical Research Accounting Specialist I. + Audits historical financial activity (invoicing, payments, collections) associated with clinical trials. + Works independently to identify and resolve opportunities for enhancing invoicing and collections. + High school diploma required. + Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred + 2 years of accounts payable or accounts receivable experience required. + MCA Certification within 1-year of hire + Working knowledge of the clinical trials lifecycle preferred **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:** + Effective oral and written communication skills. + Good listening skills. + Ability to perform basic math and accounting skills. + Strong organization skills and attention to detail. + Proficiency in data entry and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). + Ability to analyze and interpret financial data accurately. + Beginning to working knowledge of basic, financial, tax and accounting principles. + Good customer orientation skills.
